chicky pox jab, novena (nah!) & sean lau

it's time again for jab! brought baby yz to the PD this morning to get his chicky pox jab and brave boy didnt cry again and was duely rewarded with a biscuit. heh.
he didn't develope any fever too. so all was nice and good.

come 3pm and its time for the ng family to get out of the house to escape the afternoon heat!
hubbi suggested united square and novena so off we go!

and it was a mistake. novena bored the mummy to tears. but it was an alrighty place for the lil' one though with all its kiddy rides.

let yz had a go on a barney ride and he was sooo happy! he was turning the wheel like a pro and pressing the buttons on it on and off. heh.

oh, and we bought him a new sweater and socks too. FOX baby having discount now!

we settled dinner at a jap restaurant @ velocity. really so-so, what a let-down.

i think it'll be awhile before we visit this area again..

around evening time, we went to sean lau photography to select photos taken during the photoshoot early this mth! sean took ard 260+ photos of yz and he was smiley in more than 75%of them! gosh. so that means we had a tough time choosing 6 photos out of the lot!

in the end, we (more of me lah) opted to top up $350 to get all the soft copies back in high resolution and sean will develope 16 copies in 5R that we've chosen too.

cant wait to see the photos itself in 4 weeks time! :)

a really tiring day, esp for the husband who drove so much. and poor him is still cleaning up the kitchen now. apparantly some ants have moved into our kitchen and built a nest! so he is getting down to the dirty work of locating the nest, removing it and wiping clean of most cupboards to prevent such thing from happening again. @_@


ok, i should be helping him out. so here i go!

i realised having a child changes your body/face shape.
im definitely back to my pre-preggy weight.
but somehow, my face looks rounder. the apples of my cheeks not so defined. chin not so sharp (not that last time very sharp lah.).
is this just due to normal aging process, aka ur face just gets saggy?
and my bottoms are tighter now.
think the hip bones really expanded after delivery as what the old folks said.
though my feet expanded that teeny weeny bit too, im lucky to be still able to fit into my old shoes.

so to look the same as last time, i need to lose weight compared to last time?
tell me, is this ridiculous or what.
coupled with slower metabolism rate now, slimming down is easier said than done.

hmpf!

year end is a terrible period. it puts you in a joyous mood and all caution fly to the wind.
and all i can think of is buy, buy, buy.

family day out (26.11.08) = yz is 13 mths old!

dear dear and me both took 1 day leave today. the plan is to bring the lil' one out for his jab as well as spend time with him on his 13 mths old day!
but as he has just recovered from his cold n cough recently, we decided to just bring him out to have fun! vaccine can wait till this saturday! heh.

as of today, yz weighs 11.2kg and 80cm tall. no wonder me lean more and more backwards nowadays when carrying him! my poor aching back! and he seems to slow down for his vertical growth. hmm.. hope he will not end up to be of a mediocre height like pappy but tall and lean like mammy. :P

830am: we moved out to bukit merah town centre for mac brekkie! wanted to go tiong bahru market initially but hubbi suggested mac, knowing my LOVE for it. and so we detoured along the way. :P

yz enjoyed the hotcakes and had fun playing with the giraffe toy from happy meal. :)
then its back home for his breakfast and nap. while we busied ourselves preparing for the day and cooking his porridge. he had a good 2 hrs nap and woke up ard 12 noon, just in time for his bath and lunch!

at 1pm, we set off for hubbi and my lunchie!

baby looking grumpy. the husband just dont know how to make him smile from behind the camera. bah!

we made our way to the 7th storey restaurant near bugis. the hotel will be closed end of the year, and the restuarant will be relocated to marina bay. given its next out-of-the-way location, i dont think we'll revisit it ever so soon. anyway, i find the food there delicious and its been my wish to treat hubbi there for lunch for their lunch food fare is really good. not sure abt dinner for they serves steamboat and i've never tried before.

so now, given the chance, of cos hubbi is in for a good meal! :)

yz staying good throughout our meal. of cos, the gerbers strawberry yogurt helped tons. hee.

after the hearty meal, we proceeded to gogobambini @ dempsey hill! its baby 1st time to such places and my, did he love it! im so glad we brought him here to play. :)

the only complaint is that i found the places more suitable for older toddlers though. i was so scared that others will run yz down in their excited states. really, screaming toddlers running n climbing all around you can be a nightmare. luckily, the crowd is still manageable given a wed weekday. cant imagine for weekends though.

mammy, being the hardworking one, climbed and explore the place with yz all the way to the 3rd level. sweating buckets is really not fun, but seeing the gleeful smile on yz's face makes everything worthwhile! :)

yz must be very tired after the fun session for he fell promptly asleep in his pram while we walked ard isetan.
got myself a new day cream from chanel. loves the scent! hope it's good!

finally, the ng family made our way to my mum's place for yz to stay overnight for the 2 nights. after his porridge, we moved out again to parkway parade!
ha, yah we did so much commuting today that the husband is utterly tired by the time we reached home at night. :P

we had simple dinner at crystal jade and walked awhile only as we can see yz is really really tired with his watery eyes and yawning!

he saw his 1st xmas tree for this year! and fascinated him kept trying to reach out and touch.
more to come, baby! mammy n pappy will bring him go town for a proper x'mas tree photoshoot soon. LOL.


a tiring but fruitful day. how i wish i can spend more of such days with my loved ones! :)

more or less recovered from my sore throat and fever, i was able to make it for huiyan's bday lunch @ ma maison! :)

yesterday when i popped over my mum's place after work to fetch baby yz, my throat felt sore and i could feel a fever creeping up! by the time hubbi reached there, i was down with fever and feeling like crap. after seeing the doc, all i can do is curl up in bed and shiver while waiting for the meds to take effect.
in the end, the ng family stayed overnight at my mum's place for im in no state to go home, much less take care of baby yz!

then this morning, hubbi woke up to a swollen right eye! and proceeded to develope a cold by evening! duh!
so now we are both feeling crap. actually much better but saturday is gone in a flash!
damn.

so now yz is staying overnight at my mum's place while we came home to rest our tired minds and bodies. though yz still got wet nose now and then, can see that he is recovering well.
good! at least one thing off my mind. :)

i really hate being sick! argh! especially on a weekend.

updates on the little pea

the little bub will be 13 mths old, come next wed! to date, he still hasnt start walking yet. he loves to crawl fast, zipping in and out of rooms like nobody's business! sometimes, when he is in the mood, will stand up without support for quite sometimes like up to 20s? but once he realised it, will immediately sit down and crawl away! heh. think for scaredy cat him to really take the first few steps, we need to wait awhile more!

but as my mum said, fret not. its common for some babies to start walking as late as 18mths! and she's secretly relieved that she does not have to chase him yet. well, hope when the time comes, yz wont collect bumps and bruises too much! :P

verbal wise, he's slowly making progress. he can call mama, papa, por por when he is in the mood. my fav. is in the morning, when he wakes up and crawls to my side and shouts mama real loud! :) most evenings when i reached home from work, he'll jump excitedly in the play-yard and call mama out loud too.
he can say some other words like duck, ball, star etc.

oh, im pretty impressed by how much he can understand us though he may not be able to respond back with words.
like yesterday, i passed him my card holder (which holds random cards + my ezlink card) and told him," baby, take out mickey mouse card and give por por.". and he proceeded to open the cardholder (flap open) and pull out all the cards, saw my ezlink (mickey mouse sticker cover on it), took it and passed to my mum! :)

and he loves bird-watching (dun ask me why). so normally when we go downstairs walk-walk. will always point to him and he got real excited when he saw them fly off. when back at my mum, i'll say:"show por por how does the birds fly!". and he'll slowly raise his hand up while making the "fuu...." sound. LOVL. so cute! somemore, raise slowly one. ha.

before sleeping, i'll always ask him:"let mummy smell chou chou." and he'll crawl over and stuff his smelly beanie in my face!

since before, he can point out correctly for quite a number of items. like the fan, tv, air con, clock, elmo soft toy, balloon, watch, comb, hair, hand, feet etc.
now, we are trying to teach him how things may look differently but are essentially the same thing. u know, cat & dog got so many versions in books n also, compared to real life?
so common things like apple, cat, dog, rabbit, ball, butterfly, car etc, we tried to teach him see from different books as well as real life to understand these are the same despite some slight differences.
and babies are really smart! they are able to remember characteristics for items to identify them! so even when i show him new books, he can point out most items accurately even though he never see these before.

aiyah, i can rant and rant on about him.

but getting really busier come end of the year. this bad mummy got alot of social activities going on which sadly do not involve him at times. so its been awhile since i last took any photos of him!
really must do so soon.

anyway, poor yz is down with slight cold/cough again! but can see that he is getting stronger with his immunity. he only has 2 low-grade fever in response to his cold/cough this time which lasted 2 days only (as compared to his 10days fever 2 mths ago!) and his runny nose is pretty much under control. hope he'll get well soon!

up in the clouds!

it's been a good 6 years since i last went up to genting! i still remember hubbi (then-bf) treating me a trip up there right after our graduation in may 2002! and getting hooked on the blackjack, i actually persuaded zm & ayu to go up with me again like 1 mth later in jun 2002!
lol. and they aint fans of gamble so i actually went to the casino myself.
abit siao.

anyway! dear hubbi treated me to genting this time round again. and we opted for a better coach ride (草原) and hotel stay @ resorts this time round. the journey was much smoother at around 6hrs+ and the road up is much wider. though i still have my grips when the gigantic bus snaked its way up the steep winding hill. *sweat*

oh, forgot to mention that the coach did has some decent in-ride entertainment. heh.
i watched "the machinist" which starred christian bale on the way up. not an easy show to watch. but it does have an interesting twist to it.

and so we arrived on fri noon, fresh and bright-eyed! :)
heard that resort hotel recently had a face-lift and it sure look the part.

ready to rock genting! i sorta has a plan mapped out for the 2D2N trip and off we go!
the thing about staying @ resort is you need to walk alot to get to the actions. 1st world for the shopping, food, movie. genting hotel for the food, karaoke and of cos, casino de genting!

and so we walked. alot. via the sky walkway that gives a good bird-eye view of the outdoor theme park. we didnt hit the theme park at all cos not really our cup of tea now and we totally sat out most of the rides during our last visit.

day 1: we cheong to 1st world for late lunch+ shopping+dinner+movie+jackpot for the day. :)
lunch was so-so @ this fast food branch of mary brown (?). which serves food which is a cross between mac & KFC. after which, we went shop shop @ 1st world. selection of shops is really limited but still, no stopping me! managed to get a some clothings from brands not available in sg like padini.

i really had a good time with dear dear. like transported back to pak-tor times. :)

and dear dear was sweet to treat me to ah yat for dinner! i've never try their food before (unless u count their lunch time dim sum which is delicious by the way!) and really excited with eating abalone! *slurp*
we ordered the cheapest set meal which comes with an abalone for each pax, and few dishes more + desserts. not too cheap either at around RM120++ per pax.

this mexican abalone is really neat! but not the phoenix claw or whatever. eeks.

after dinner, we went to catch "quantum of solace"! wow wee! i enjoyed the show tons cos im a huge bond(or rather daniel craig) fan. :) but hubbi was less than impressed with the messy directing. what to do? it's helmed by bourne ultimatum series' director mah. so can expect lots of those rapid cut n paste scenes. still, daniel craig!!! ooh, intense man. totally my cup of tea. :)

and the night was still so young after the show! so we cheong to the starworld casino @ 1st world. bad mistake. think the air ventilation is not as good as over at genting casino. and poor me almost suffered an asthma attack, inhaling all those idiots' 2nd-hand smoke! *gag*
we stayed for 2hrs+, just for the slots machine. quite fun. as we all know, its always a lost case with jackpot but it does allow us to spend a considerable time for around 30RM? heh.


Day 2: hubbi and me lazed in bed till 10+ then bothered to move our lazy asses out of the room. hiaks. sooo nice to stay in bed late on a weekend! yes, this is a luxury cos back home, we wakey up ard 7+ with notti baby yz! :P

trotted to 1st world for brunch and then its time for singing! karaoke, here we come!
we went for the happy hours package at the karaoke @ genting hotel. RM38+ for 3 hours, quite a good deal if you ask me. i love singing k with the husband cos he doesnt sing much. lol. that means i got to sing alot. ha. we've a huge room to ourselves and the system is quite decent.
the only drawback is they really dont have most of the new songs. @_@

AND THEN, we stayed alll the way @ the casino from 4pm till midnight! ok, not that mad. we did came out for dinner. was really fun initially. as usual, was granted the initial bout of luck as like ALL gambling. we tried our hands at 3 king, big-small and jackpot as usual. by 8pm, we actually won a good 100RM. lol.

so we left for dinner with the winnings. :)
dinner was @ this chinese restaurant - shanghai 10- at 1st world. and apart from its decent xiao long bao, the rest basically sucks. pui.

and then its back to the casino. tried our luck again at 3 king, big-small and then pontoon. and lady luck deserted us. and me being me, just played and played till hubbi gotta stop me. heh.
and OF COS we lost in the end. around S$100+ each.
but all in the name of good fun! i'll do it all over again at the drop of a hat! :)

were totally bashed by the time we were back at the hotel. bath and slept like babies.
we opted for the earlier coach back cos i know i'll miss yz lots by then. so we checked out at ard 10am on day 3 and proceeded to have early lunch before boarding the bus at 1130am.

in short, this is a really nice getaway/break for hubbi and me. unlike other couple who love to go to some beach side resort to chill, this is really our cup of tea. just somewhere away from sg. doing normal activities without the daily stress and hassle really make our days. :)

and of cos, the gambling doesnt hurt!

yah maintaining a beauty routine is not easy.
as most of you know by now, we will bring baby yz to my mum's place every wednesday.
so i tried to devote some time on wed night to just pampering meself.

yesterday, by the time we reached home from mum's , its around 10pm.
so my (extra) beauty routine every wed is:
-cleanse and give my face a scrub
-bath and give my body a scrub
-apply mask sheet after bath
and all the above takes around an hr!

im not sure if its pampering meself now, for i feel very tired everytime after that. ha
so far, i've managed to keep this up for like at least thrice a mth.
some wednesdays, i just hit the sack, too tired for anything.
really, women are very troublesome.
daily still got to go thru the cleanser-toner-serum(if any)-moisturiser-sunblock(day) routine twice a day.
bleh.

hopefully, will reap the rewards in future lah.

4th nov: met up with jean and some of the ex-dowers. brought baby yz along and that seems to be a bad choice made. kept on having to tend to him and didnt engage in the conversation as much as i want. though really glad to see everyone happy in their lives. well, perhaps not jean. the silly woman was suffering from withdrawal symptoms from lack of hb's presence in her life. reservist only nia lah. hiaks.

6th nov: met up with ah d & zm back in the east since i was staying over @ mum's place for the night. went to zm's hse and we had SO MUCH fun looking through our old photos. so glad i took all those photos back then. perhaps i should do so again from now on. so we can have something to laugh at another 10 years down the road. :)

7th nov: dashed to mum's place for dinner and to fetch yz home. nowadays, my dad will bring him to go to the void deck area to look out for me alighting from my bus (yes, every fri without fail)! and it warms my heart so so so much to see his eyes light up when he spots me. he'll then proceed to flap his hands like a bird before stretching out for me to carry him. after which, he'll transform to a koala bear, with head lying on my shoulder. :) *sweet!*

8th nov: BUSY and expensive day for me. woke up bright and early and decided i want to SHOP. as hubbi had IPPT in the noon, he didnt want to do that. but no stopping me! so i went to bath and pack baby stuff and at 10am, off we go (yes, only yz and me!) to orchard! i spent time shopping @ metro sale and walk along the way stopping here and there, before settling yz and my lunch at far east plaza! heh. then flagged cab home at 2pm. :)

bought 2 pair of shoes. umm, for CNY. and body scrub from origins and SKII miracle water! :)
n burnt that big hole in pocket. perfect.

then once home, rushed to pack things again for we were going to sean lau for photoshoot!

and hubbi had to go for IPPT so he dropped me at sean's place and really, going through a photoshoot with baby alone is SO tiring. i think i changed his clothes like up to 10 times. n got to star-jump here n there n kept calling out to him to get his attention for the best effects. wah, damn shag. and after the session, got to lug pram, baby bag and yz himself and take cab home. how i did it, i dont know.

9th nov:borders got sale! went there but "the graveyard story" soft cover version was sold out. :( still , got 2 books there. books are with my brother-in-law as we needed to make a move 1st. cant wait to read them!

ok got to go liao. rushing home to see yz before heading out to meet the gang for dinner (like again!). BYEE.

4) euro is falling against sgd! i've this mad idea of exchanging for euros now so the next time i visit europe, i can get my 2.55 at a much cheaper price as compared to here.

5) and so will i be going to europe again soon? i seriously have no idea for i've a fickle-minded hubbi who really hates long-distance travelling.
for moi, its either spain/portugal or west coast. considering USA as i've never been there (!) and it will be the 4th time to europe if i go spain. but its spain (!!).
but hubbi is still sneaking in hokaiddo to the equation. sneaky him. but equally sneaky me suggested flying to west coast via narita and viola!, we got the best of both. and that silenced him, almost immediately. heh.

6) "the graveyard book" by neil gaiman. i want to read this. but i miss the 20% borders sale for this. guess this has to wait alongside with tons of books i forgo and forget along the way. *sigh*
sidenote: persepolis is really good. life in iran is really different from what i ever know. sometimes i wonder if reading really feeds our souls. i read, i think & reflect but i carry on my life as per normal. hmm.
but i guess, somewhere somehow subtle changes are in place. will show in time. so, one of my mottos in life is still the same: never stop reading, no matter how infrequent.

bought baby yz to his Hep A vaccine yesterday morning. apparantly, from now on he has to visit the PD on a monthly basis for his jabs again.
coming up: chicken pox, prenavar last jab, MMR etc
poor baby.

but he was a brave boy, he didn't cry when he took the jab! :)

oh, borders having 20% sale storewide for these 2 days! i brought "persepolis" which i wanted since eons ago. :)

and im now a metro card holder. applied for it to be entitled for 10% off my eye cream.

tried another eye cream under la prairie. hope its better for my fine lines than my current one.

but really, eye cream need to be so expensive anot!

and metro private sale coming this mth too!

i think im back to my splurging days. *gulp*

for mixing up my good friend's wedding dinner!
note: its mixed-up, not forgotten.
dear yunping's big night was on 1st Nov, saturday but somehow i thought its 2nd Nov sunday!
mayb cos 2nd nov is her actual b-day, hence i tot that's the actual night.
and so i noted down the event in my hp calendar, liaised with my mum to get her to take care of baby and told the husband to come fetch me on sunday night.

so imagine my horror when huiyan sms-ed me last evening saying she might be late and asking when's the dinner starting!!
i was decked in my usual weekend get-up which is a causual top and shorts! and with hubbi and baby leisurely strolling in paragon (far from swissotel). :(
i acted quickly, i called the bride herself and CONFIRMED the dinner was indeed last evening and apologized profusely that i remembered wrongly.
and the silly bride asked if im still coming, and i said of cos i am! no way im gonna miss that for anything! but the problem was my dressing.
ignoring the sillyx2 bride for suggesting that i just come as i am, i assured her that im gonna grab some clothing there and rush down at the fastest possible time.

and so a mad rush ensued with me combing paragon for appropriate clothing! and what a wrong place to be in. most of the shops' clothings come with atrocious tags.
but luckily, i managed to find a suitable dress @ ms selfridge! and so i told the bewildered salesgirl to cut the tag right there and i got them to wrap up my existing clothings. LOL.
then i dashed off in a cab soon after!

poor dear dear was left with baby and lotsa shopping bags. and he got to make his way back to isetan scotts and drove home alone with baby yz! but im proud to say that he did a great job doing all the above plus feeding and settling the baby to sleep all by himself at night! :)

as for me? i made it to the dinner just before it started! and i had a great time catching up with huiyan and some of my sec friends. and im so so so happy for yp!
her husband and her looked so happy the entire night!
so glad that her wedding turned out so smoothly. :)

really, what a tedious and mad evening for me. heh. but i got no one to blame but myself!
