so wassup?

so, how is everyone doing the festive season?

the working week right after the CNY is lazy and short.

time flies when your heart is not at work, ha!

accompanied my mum to singapore national eye centre to check up her eyes as she was complaining of blurred vision.

luckily its not cataract that we were afraid of but rather her spectacles' degree was all wrong for her. 

friday was on leave for... PV! lol. 

we took a break since dec and now back in action.

with less than few months to go before the registration, we better buck up. *gulp*

good thing is we are left with just one more session. :D

went for my super long overdue facial in the late afternoon too.

it was almost a year since my last facial!

and i must be too tired from all the late night drama chasing that i actually fell asleep during the extraction stage, can you imagine!?

just a random comment: im finally done with running man 2011! (of cos, i skipped a few episodes where the guests were random aunties, lol!).

moving on to 2012 running man. *woohoo*

and finally, i caught another korean drama after the hiatus from 善良的男人。

this time i watched 拥抱太阳的月亮。

the show is not too bad though its not the top3 dramas from 2012 for me.

i like the first few episodes where the younger leads acted.

very good acting and very 催泪。

just the way i like haha.

ok i need to go back to reading soon.

too many dramas, variety shows and of cos candy crushing can be too much for the brains.

CNY is over just like that. unbelievable.

the ng family stayed in whole day at home on CNY day 2, no thanks to a sick husband.

on day 3, we went for a gathering with hubbi's friends - lots of kids! over 20 including mine. @_@

and on 人日, it's gathering with the gang @ dd & grace's houses!

same old same old.

dinner was at zi char stall near dd's house then adjourned to grace's house for blackjack till past midnight....

again, we didnt take a single shot.

as usual, chat until 口沫横飞，爆笑 every other moment.

crazy catch-up without fail. i like. :)

my luck is so-so this year.

win some @ MJ, lose some @ blackjack.

CNY day 1

as we age, the CNY festive mood gets less and less apparant.

im sure the boys dont feel it as much as what i felt when i was young.

back then, we will buy sparkles and those mini "bombs" to throw.

and shopping with the aunties and cousins for our CNY clothings.

i really think i have a better childhood than them at times...

still, the boys find joys in other areas no matter how small.

they really like their new shoes.

they enjoyed all the "forbidden" goodies they ate during the day.

they had fun gathering with their cousins and other relatives.

and guess what, we are done with house visiting already.

so unlike last time where we will continue to do so for at least 3-4 days.

tsk.

oh well, still wishing everyone out there health and happiness for this new year of snake!

CNY is really here!

it has been a good closing for me this month too.

apart from working late from home on WD1 last fri, it was back to on the dot from this monday onwards. :)

furthermore, we had half-day yesterday! *wee*

the husband took half day leave so we can go out and spent time together.

i actually took the train in the wrong direction in the morning and reached office pretty late. :P

but by 12+pm, the mood for work is no longer there and we were all ready for our team lunch!

lunch was simple at a jap restaurant at MBFC tower 3.

after which, hubbi came to pick me up and we left for town.

we wanted to catch a show initially but there was really nothing nice showing so we went walking around instead. 

i bought milk lotion from this jap brand - albion - sold exclusively @ taka.

hope its really as good as it claims. will try it soon. :)

初夕夕 was a quiet one for us where we let the kids stayed up as late as they want (though they were all zzz by 11pm, ha) and us gorging on all the new year goodies at home!

tonight we headed back to my big uncle house for reunion dinner where my parents and another uncle's family are joining as well.

reading is always good

the snowman

ngau ngau just passed me a book which turned out to be really good.
the snowman is book 7 of jo nesbo's books featuring the infamous harry hole inspector.
in this book, he was on the track of a serial killer who may have something to do with disappearances of women for the past decade.
though the author throws tons of red herrings along the plot, clever me was spot on with the murderer from the start. wahaha.
BUT, the question is always the why and how.
and this is what the book concludes brilliantly.
especially the why.
ahhh... now i want to read all the harry hole series like ms ngau!
though the cover of the novel touted nesbo as the next steig larsson, i can only say objectively: not even close.

the girl xx series is in another league of its own.
what larsson did is incomparable for many.
he created layered complex characters that are as real as you get and you actually feel for them.
and an intriguing plot which touches on many social issues as you peel away the layers.
and he was equally good with the who, why and how.
so many suspects - all equally seemingly guilty. 
all having motives and the capability to kill.
i miss lisbeth salender. :(

busy weekend - birthdays

im glad im not a homely person to start with.

if not, how can i survive some hectic saturdays like yesterday?

brought the boys to their usual phonics lessons in the morning and it was almost noon by the time we reached home.

settled their lunch and made them do a quick nap, hubbi and i busied ourselves with some housework chores.

really, any snippets of time is precious!

and i finally booked our first trip for the year!

the ng family is jetting off to the land of smiles next month! *wee*

when the boys woke up, we made our way to downtown east explorer kids to celebrate JR's daughter 1yo bday.

the boys had fun playing at the huge playground and i was so tired out climbing after them.

when i saw the slide, i actually chickened out and climbed back down to wait for YZ at the bottom of it

ANYWAY, the slide is not meant for adults im sure.

we were there for a good 2hours plus before we left at 5+pm.

and its time for me to move on to meet the gang for gb's bday dinner!

1st stop, we met at tanuki @ orchard central for happy hour.

martinis, LOTS of oysters, jellyfish, beef tartare (yes, the place serves 90% raw food - interesting huh?) etc.

but we decided we needed something more filling- like carbs.

so we adjourned to mac @ centrepoint for prosperity fries! LOL

it was like back to sec days where each will buy a large fries, pour out and share the mountain of fries. :)

and AFTER mac, we decided to go elsewhere for more drinking and eating so the natural choice was wine connection next door at the cuppage.

so more resling, shiraz and of cos pasta, salad and desserts. *yum*

and tonight, we had reunion dinner with my in-laws.

the boys were happy to wear their new Ben-10 tees.

though they leave the preferred choice - angry birds!- to next sat when we have reunion with my parents. :P

it has been a sick sad week, mostly anyway

first it started with little nut going down with a fever on tuesday night.
so we brought him to the doc and was told his throat was slightly inflammed.
took leave the next day to take care of him until i started puking in the middle of night.
and LS on thursday morning. how nice.
was diagnosed with mild stomach flu. zzz.
and friday was my closing WD1!!
both myself and the younger boy were still not very well.
in the end, i worked from home to do the closing and it was a nightmare.
with 2 kids -which 1 was sick and grouchy and ended up making the other one grouchy as well - plus a husband who was also working from home and hence impatient = formula for headache.
i didnt know how i survived friday but i did.
with a headache that never really came on fully, queasy tummy, oily face and all.
now YR and I are well on our way to recovery, i hope all of us stay in the pink of health for the upcoming festive season!
