i love today! hubbi and i had a tiring but nevertheless entertaining day. for we got stuff done and explore new places together. ")

morning and early noon was spent tidying up the house. finally, 3pm arrived (ours is a weekend car :P) and we were all set to go!

hubbi supposed to take a pic for me but somehow he took our messy bookshelf too. blah.

1st stop:we stopped over at tiong bahru to get harry potter tickets for next sat. heez. very kiasu hor?! but i cant wait to catch the 5th installment of the show! we wanted to grab "zodiac" from the play station there but it's not out yet. so movie night no more for us tonight.

2nd stop: we went walk walk at forum. its been ages since i last went there. still the same old atas shops. lolz. we spent an hour or so over there & at borders. by then, i was quite tired & my legs felt sore & aching from all the walking/standing. *sobz*

3rd stop: decided to bring hubbi to dempsey hill area to take a look at those new restaurants/bars/shops there. he was relatively excited when he reached there, given its his first time there. cant blame him for it really doesnt feel like one is in singapore over there! very nice ambience! :)

we decided to have dinner at Oosh in the end. the ambience is really nice there and the food is surprisingly affordable. they do not have service charge & GST there! :))

we trotted back for some dessert at ben & jerry before heading home. by then, it was near 9pm & the area was almost pitch black except for the light from the shops & some faltering street lamps. they really should improve on that!

now im finally back at home sweet home. very tired. should bath and hit the sack soon. hubbi was fast asleep beside me on the sofa now. hmmm... must wake him up soon. *evil smile*

happy that he's finally back for south africa aint exactly the safest place on earth. :P
and he bought home a painted ostrich egg for our house!
see, i think its a beauty! and we improvised by using the apple tea cup we bought from turkey to double as its stand. lolz.

and i worked OT for the first time (i think so...) for this year! and it has to be on a friday night! *pui*i stayed till nearly 9pm! but hubbi was very sweet to buy dinner & came to my office to give me that. so the last half hour of my "OT" was actually spent eating dinner & chatting with him at my cubicle. *hee*

but whatever, the weekend is here again! *wee*
as usual, evil hubbi made me cook lunch for him today. but i did lah, given he's away for so long & he "requested" for it.
now im hot and bothered from cooking and ironing. i wanna go bathe and hit the town sooN!
yes! before the weekend ended too soon agaiN!

这个礼拜过得有点失落,有点孤单.
只因老公不在.
很奇怪的感觉,明明周围尽是人与事.

发现,原来最想念的竟是他的手.
老公与我的手如果在熟睡翻身时碰着,会不自觉的握在一起.
平时没多大感觉.
但这几晚在大大的双人床上,竟然怀念起来了.
尤其是现在的我,半夜总因翻身而迷迷糊糊睡醒.
蒙拢间突记得他不在的感觉总有点错谔.
还好,很快我又可以再握他的手了.

还有,昨夜发现宝宝也会安慰我.
半夜失眠真有够难受.
但在老公的一通电话与宝宝的一番"跳舞"后,
突然觉的失落感减少,睡意增加.
终于在凌晨四点回到梦乡.

rolling on & THE orange bag

time flies! i cant believe im rolling on to the 2nd half of 2007!
yay! before i know it, end of the year will come and i'll be ready to embrace a new phase in my life (hopefully! :P)!

to celebrate (for no reason at all), i decided to get myself the bag that i've been ogling like... one day (?!)! lolz.
tada! gorgeous huh!? at least to me. hubbi is totally not buying my "orange-is-my-fav-color" reasoning for the purchase.
whatever. im a happy girl. at least for the weekend.
*roar* the materialistic me is still alive and kicking! heez.

time passes faster during weekend, i swear. it was only like just now when i bounced out of my building at 530 to meet hubbi at raffles city for a relaxing friday when its mid sunday now already! *jeez*
weekends are getting better nowadays and thats what make it all the more irritatitng when they have to end. :(

so on friday, we had dinner at our fav food outlet, soup spoon! Yummy! after which we strolled around for some window shopping. in the end, hubbi bought more stuff than me! what a surprise huh! he got himself a new wireless mouse & i got him a nice set of cuff links finally!

look! i chose the design for him. isnt it nice!? its mother of pearl flanked by onyx. easy to match with his unbelivable boring range of white/blue based shirts bah.


food craving (potato mentai!)
was having a bad craving for waraku yakiniku don & its potato mentai ever since fri! so on saturday, i made hubbi agree for dinner at the branch at starhub building before our movie, transformers, at shaw. :)) (yesh, thats a double chin for me. im becoming ridiculously fat. and im shocked with my own nonchalence about this whole thing)

oh, and i've a haircut last saturday if i didnt get to mention this in my previous posts. this is me in my new haircut! really cooling for the bizarre hot weather nowadays!


waraku's yakiniku don is as delicious as ever! though hubbi was slighly turned off by the over cheesy-high carbs-buttery potato mentai. lol. but its pure heaven for me! cheese + gan dan! what can beat that!

transformers - surprisingly good!
i ve my reservations for the show initially but it sure is easily the best film for 2007 so far! kept us at the edge of our seats for the whole show & peppered with enough humour & wit to make us laugh as well. the yound male lead, Shia LaBeouf, was surprisingly a natural at acting considering his young age of 21 (born in 1986, gag). looking forward to seeing more of him in his future films, disturbia & Indiana Jones 4.

but being a critical person, cant help pointing out some parts of the show which i think can be improved.
- how come they didnt show more of decepticons' logo? its sooo cool. since young, i always feel that its much nicer than the autobots one. hiaks.
- optimus prime's voice. somehow the voice is just a normal nice robotic voice. lack the leader quality leh. unlike megatron's voice which really instilled a sense of fear and awe in you when it speaks.

happened to chance upon a nice leather bag at isetan scotts that is going at a rather attractive sales price. im really tempted to get my hands on it! but there is really no reason for such a buy recently.
hubbi, ever the rational one, asked me to think about it & as usual try to dissuade me from it when back home. but i cant stop thinking about it.
hmm, shall go down to town later after lunchie at mum's place to REALLY consider again.

hubbi outta town

the husband is leaving town for work again!
this time, all the wayyyyyy to SOUTH AFRICA - johannesburg !!
and for 5 nights at one go!

mom will only be staying over for 2 nights only, so what am i supposed to do for the remaining 3 nights? *sobz*
and i cant really go paint the town red in his absence nowadays.
so not-fun. *sigh*

i've enough of June - unexciting month!
good thing its finally coming to an end this friday. *wee*

finally onto harry potter's book 6 - half-blood prince. the story is getting darker and darker & harry potter more and more irritating. lolz.
still, i am hooked to the plot's developments! will definitely feel empty once i finish it.
will be awhile before i can purchase the soft cover version of the last book which will be out next month.

meantime, im crawling into the peak period of my company! its forecast weeks for last & this week. so far, still manageable with me not staying back late.
but i sure did work hard during the office hours!
then it'll be the budget period for the next 2 weeks which i will foresee myself staying late perhaps 1-2 days per week.
*groan* come to think of it, july sucks too.
nomind, at least i got the letter to look forward to.

okie, back to work work work for me!
and will 7pm quick come! so hubbi can fetch me from work!!!

shopping therapy, worrywart & small talk is really unnecessary

the husband and i decided (or rather I) to do some shopping on an otherwise normal & mundane wednesday. so he came fetched me from work at 7pm sharp & both of us dead beat from work but restless me refused to just have a "simple" dinner and then home to rot in front of the tube.
scheming mind working ahead, i got the husband to bring me to try ..... botak jones! it so happens that the nearest branch is actually right at depot's lane - a stone throw from my working place. so we whizzed there for a quick spot of yummy western food. pricey, but the food is really good! i had fish burger while hubbi had the botak chez set.

after which, we decided to go scotts isetan to see if we can get some decent shoes. hubbi has been eyeing this pair of geox shoes for the longest time. and so he got them, finally. and me? i was desperately in need of some sturdy comfy shoes so i settled for a pair of clarks. but it threatens to give me blisters for the past 2 days that ive been wearing it. :( hope my reddened skin will eventually get used to it! bleah.

and today, hubbi has finally dragged me to Oxford to get his shirt tailored. been ages since i got my bonus, and he's finally getting his reward from me. hiaks. shirt to be collected in 10 days time. now, when will we ever get a nice pair of cuff links for him?

im a worrywart. no doubt about it. good times seem like a luxury to me and my mind wanders off to the negative whenever i deem everything to be too peaceful to be true.
i really should stop doing this! so detrimental to my mental health. bah! i must have faith!

small talk - do we really need this?
once upon a time, i prided myself to manage small talk with almost anyone. sorta like a testiment to my high EQ. or so i thought.
nowadays, small banter with people i dont regard as friends seem really meaningless.
so much so, that i've to muster all my strength to just NOT roll my eyes. sigh. im getting grouchy, impatient & unlikeable with age.
but really, small talk is unnecessary. trust me.

been feeling lazy to blog recently. not that my life has anything exciting to blog about anyway. anyway, waking up bright & early on a saturday morning calls out for some celebration, no?
so here i am, perched on my study room chair, munching on some combos (which happens to be one of my fav. snacks other than jack n jill salsa chill chips!) and decided to shoot my mouth off for a(long)while in my blog.

In no order of importance, of cos
1) friends of ba bee boo (me lah! who else?)
as mentioned earlier, one of my friends is flying off to HK to start a new career soon. the reality hasnt quite sink in but i know we will miss her sorely. *sobbie*
*yong, must keep in close contact & come back often!* of cos, we can always fly over given that we are only 3 1/2 hrs apart. take care of yourself, not like that silly nelly who made us worry for her. still, glad that we managed to meet up recently at your house for some yummy prata supper & delicious dinner @ MOF @ marina sq on monday! been ages since i last saw GS & gerry too!

talking about silly nelly (has a certain rhyme to it hor?), really hope she'll take good care of herself & have a satisfying n fulfilling period in NYC in time to come. *nelly, you are soooo far away so must take care of yourself, hor!?*

met up with fi & yan for a short while on thursday evening. realised i miss them loads! been 2 mths since i last saw them? gosh, sometimes i miss those days back at hall. youth is a painful thing. no matter how much you enjoy it, you know its not ever gonna come back again. pui!
luckily we still have adulthood & *ahem* old age. we can keep the people, just not the time. pui (!) again.

then its ah d & ser for dinner & chit-a-chatty on thursday night too. its the same old thing whenever we meet up... *yawn* which is ..... LAUGHTER & GOOD TIME! lolz. poor ah d wont be in sg for the next few weekends till mid july. so it'll be sometimes before i can see him bah?

oh, met up with suling yest too after a long span of 3(?) months? glad that she still seems fine & she sure has some concrete plans for herself for next year. hope you can carry them out well, babe! she may thought she's the last to know about my news, but she's really not the last. hiaks.

the problem with me nowadays is i tend to live like a hermit for sometimes before i launch a whirlwind of social activities. for the past week, been meeting up people like nobody's business. and im gonna play MJ at grace's house later today with zm & ser. *yippee* not to mention the dinner outing with stella & the girls tomorrow! *weee**

friends, what can we do with/without them?

2) hubbi (sulky one)
given the above spate of flurry activities without him, its no wonder the husband aint too glad with me this week. to make it up & giving in to his whiny request that its been eons since i last cooked (like 4-5mths ago? tee hee), i cooked dinner again this tuesday for us!

appetitzing anot? the husband seems to think so. *smile*

its just jap curry with potatoes/carrot/ & pork bits. of cos the curry not whipped up by me. i just bought it off-the-shelf & warmed it up. lolz.

3) my other passions in life - books & movies!
getting crazy over the potter madness only JUST recently. saw a 3-for-2 deals at borders last week & decided on the spot to grab the 6 harry potter books at one go. have demolished the 1st 2 books over the week - philosopher's stone & chambers of secrets are good! kinda forget the details since the movies were like few years back! now onto the 3rd & if i didnt remember wrongly, my least fav of all the movies - prisoner of azkaban. the movie was confusing & i dun get some of the parts. hopefully, the book will clear up the doubts.

watched fantastic 4 with hubbi on thursday when we took a day off to get some admin done. it should be called normal 4 as ah d suggested. not that its bad, just that its wellll.....normal. nothing too exciting. but i must say the silver surfer is really cool. but too little character development is always a distinct feature of fantastic 4 series.. so thats that.

4) pay increment & revision
really looking forward to july month for my pay increment and yes, pay revisioN! think my coy has finally understand we are grossly underpaid n decided to throw in a pay revision on top of the normal yearly pay increment this time round. *yay*

evil hubbi has mentioned that im the 老鼠屎of the household since i've room to grow before i hit the CPF ceiling. he has reached that and there s really nothing much he can do to shorten the houseing loan of our flat. hence, from his viewpoint, i should up my contribution to do my part in shortening the loan. bleah!

*crossing finger* let's hope that will happen soon and we can go revise our contributions when we made our yearly paydown next year! :)

okie, got to dash n bathe. if not, i ll be late for mum's lunchie back at ubi. tata!

Jazzy
we've our jazzy for almost coming to 3 weeks! having a car is really very convenient though i must said that the cost of maintaining one is not exactly cheap. i still maintain that taking a cab everyday is still cheaper than owing your own set of wheels.

anyway, i digress. the advantages of having jazzy are:
-hubbi has been diligently fetching me off work for the past few weeks. :) wonder how long he can keep this up. hee.
-we can whizz around to new places for dinner
-travelling to & fro our parents' places is now a breeze during weekend
-having an OPC means parking is relatively cheaper & no heavy traffic for we use the car in the evenings during weekdays & weekends
-i've fun fiddling with the air-con, radio, cd-set etc. lolz, the life of a passenger (aka no licence lah!)

of cos, there's always the pitfalls:
-having an OPC means i've to wait till 710 before hubbi pick me up from work. he can only start the car at 7pm sharp during weekdays. trying to get accustomed to this since staying a minute pass my official off-time kills me
-the hefty installment of $1k+ for the next 2 years, and the petrol, parking etc
-washing the car. so far we (or rather ah long himself) washed it once and it seems tiring. bleh

hubbi brought me to the mac branch near farrer park on vesak day. that place look nice with a pond to boot!
my appetite getting heartier by the day, to think i can wolf down a sausage macmuffin with egg meal & still feel not full! lolz.


hubbi with my happy meal toy. a dragon from shrek 3 apparantly. yes, my meal can't satisfied me so i ordered another 2 pc hotcakes happy meal in the end. gross huh?


good news
my mum won 1st prize in 4D! not a lot but a modest amount to keep her smiling till the wee hours of the night. heh.
the winning nos are the last 4 digit of her new home phone number. and she gave hubbi & me big fat ang baos yesterday. *wee*
mine is decidedly bigger than his. hiaks. bo bian, my mum plays favouritism since dun-know-when.
and she's treating a feast this saturday. *yummy*

the last one week+ was fraught with worries & depression for me.
in any case, im just glad that everything is fine now.
though still have some on-going problems now, im still glad what life has to offer me. :)

our jazzy is finally here!
hubbi went to collect it alone last saturday as i was home alone, sick. bah!
nevertheless, jazzy is yellow & cute!
and surprisingly roomy too!

so far, it has served its purpose real well as a weekend car. lolz.
we have been zapping it all around the weekend & in the evening after work.
the installments have yet to be deducted from our credit card so we are still in denial. heh.

anyway, its finally back to work for me after a week + long hiatus! been a long tortuous break as i was really sick most of the time.
the good thing is its thursday already & i just need to survive one more day before the weekend is here again! *wee*

oh, just got wind that yet another of my friend is leaving to work in a foreign country. *sob*
i will miss her sooo much!

终于，老公还是背着包包去公干了。

因为身体依然不适，加上情绪有着少许的失落，今天决定请假窝在家里哪儿都不去。
不知是不舍还是心疼我的不适，老公对还在赖床的我说：“我们去买pirates of the Caribbean 的mega blocks给你玩。”
依然不烂漫，依然用着自己的方式来对待我。
可我还是感动了。

and our jazzy is finally ready to be picked up by us next friday. after 2 months of waiting, its finally here.
not that it concerns me much, with me having no licence. but hubbi is decidedly excited and he busied himself poring over the street directory learning road routes and all.
this has to be his biggest toy to date in life i guess.

but after paying down deposit balance of $3k+ & upfront road tax/insurance of $1.6k+, im starting to worry abit about financing the car.
maybe spreading the 30+k loan over 2 years is not too wise a choice, huh?
financing the loan means our common savings wont be growing at all for the next 24 months. not sure if this is good for this period where we need the extra cash. hmm... and there is this possibility where we may convert the OPC to a normal car plate & that will cost us an extra $17k. *shivers*
well, will see how it goes.

wardrobe revamp
im looking forward to adding new pieces to my wardrobe! my current one just cant support my lifestyle now.
though revamping doesnt come cheap, but comfort is more impt!
so im gonna shop shop shop this weekend. *weee*

hubbi will be going away on a business trip to malacca from wed to fri morn. *sobbie* this will be my 2nd night home alone.
mum will be coming over on wed night to accom me but i've to be brave brave and brave to brave thursday night alone. *boohoo*

hubbi is not very patience with me losing sleep over this home alone stuff. but im didnt sleep alone till i was 9 year old & i slept with dim yellow light till im in my teens!
darkness disturbs me. bleah. hope fri will come soon when he's back!

*weeeeeee* my bonus has finally come in & apr ended on a beautiful note with me sharing some major good news with my closest friends. :)

finally a year of toiling or so in a less than desired workplace paid off (kinda....)! my bonus (pro-rated & all) was credited to my bank account last wed & i had busied myself paying bills, transferring to my savings a/c, giving out ang-baos to my family etc.
and before i know it, my transaction bank a/c balance which i last checked is a miserable balance for the whole month of may. *meg hair*
back to square one. bleh.

im finally proud to say my savings is at a healthy level. :) not alot per se but its been awhile since our wedding last year that i see any decent form of savings on my side. heez.

been fun playing santa. esp. giving out ang baos to my mum. crazy mum kissed the ang bao i gave her when im at her house last saturday. lolz.
been trying to get the husband some stuff too. have asked him what he wants & the feedback is a tailored shirt & a pair of cuff-links. hopefully, will get him those soon before i spend the budget on myself. hehe.

a visit, birthday dinner & good news
saturday was a long n tiring day for me. was up bright & early by 9am and we made our way to tiong bahru mac for some delicious breakfast! *yummy*

learnt some good news thereafter & made our way to my mum for lunchie. & then its *wheezeeee* on #5 to orchard road in a jiffy via PIE/CTE!

done some window shopping before meeting up with hubbi's family for a light dinner at a jap restaurant at taka. the agedashi tofu is one of the best i ever tried! :) and my fav. peanut butter baby likes me alot that day. *happie*
he kept on wanting me to play with him. :))

then its off to city hall to meet the gang for the birthday dinner for ah D & ser. trotted to timbre for dinner & the food was really nice and affordable! esp, the pizza! absolutely tasty!! but to dine in sweltering heat & dubious flying insects around us aint exactly appealing. so we made our quick exit back to raffles city for drinks & desserts @ gloria jean at the basement.

we had great fun & laughter again. n took a nice grp pix, thanks to the timer function of tanny's digi cam. hee. will upload once she email us the pic!

bits n pieces

weekend is over far too fast! but im happy for april is almost coming to an end! *yippee* welcome, may the month of many many holidays. *wee*!
and i've a good weekend i guess. :)

friday was nothing eventful. hubbi & i made our way to the soup spoon outlet at raffles place for a quick spot of dinner. after that, we made a beeline for home as i was feeling pretty tired out again. the good thing that came out of the evening was linda deciding to pop by our house to for a quick catch-up!
its been eons since i last saw her & i showed her all my wedding/honeymoon photos at one go! hehe. but its really nice just gabbling rubbish with her! :)

and finally the long awaited musical "phantom of the opera" arrived on sat!! i woke up bright & chirpy to prepare myself for lunchie at mum's place before meeting zm for the musical at 1+.

moi all ready to go! the husband giving me the evil eye for abandoning him to finish up housework at home by himself.

the phantom' set is really fantastic and worth every dollar of the expensive ticket. but i must admit having wakey up at 7+ in the morning took the toll on me. i found myself dozing off at certain parts where christine kept on singing and singing about nothing in particular. heez.
but im not the only one. zm & ser had the same problems. lolz.

sun was lazy n a good day of rest for me. we left for hubbi's parents home for good o'home-cooked lunch. played with my cute nephews!

they cant stop jumping on the mattress. so cute!

after which we left for grocery shopping at tiong bahru before heading home. we finally managed to catch "the godfather II" DVD that hubbi got for me last time.
it was good but abit slow for him i guess. it has 2 of my fav. actors from last time - robert de niro & al pacino! wayyy cool!
esp. de niro. he's good. just like the real stuff. a don! a don! call me don vito! lolz. they made mafia look good again!

i feel like catching godfather I! curious to see if marlon brandon was really good as don vito! for de niro portrayed a really convincing young vito!

and i've been playing well with my paint set! *tada* another cute lion with pink mane & cheery sun are my latest creations. heh.



anyway the husband made some really tiny windfall from his shares yesterday & since we were out at raffles city, strolling aimlessly, i managed to bring us to the toys department again to grab something! heez.

in the end, managed to convince him to get me a set of TABOO! & a mega block spider-man 3 set! haa, he's always interested in spidey but without me pushing, he will never get such a set.
thinking that it will be great fun constructing it together & it really made a nice display set, i persuaded him to grab it since there's 20% disc too.

and we've fun playing taboo for sometime yesterday night before he got tired of such intellectual game & we moved on to the spidey set!
it took us nearly 1 1/2 hours to get it all set up but its really worth the effort!

see the end result is sooo nice. its the final battle scene for spider man 3 where we've sandman, green goblin, venom & spidey all together. some of the parts are really fun like the crane can swing around, a button to control the length of the white string that spidey is holding on, some planes can be pushed to scattered make-believed sand all over the place & a spidey web that will catch the baddies. FUN!

im glad we got this. & i've my eyes set on another set from the pirates of the carribean set! hopefully, hubbi will get dividends from some of his portfolio soon. hiaks!

on the road to recovery

sore-reddened lips
still fighting the war. but VASELINE is the wayyyy to go. kept it well-moisturised like 24-hours a day. even my assistant commented on how "oily" my lips is. heh.
the redness have all but disappeared. now left only left the side of my lips still sensitive & abit reddish. but as the husband commented & affirmed by my assistant, its much better than last week.

okie, im think im happy once more.
now left only with catching up with my deprived sleep tonight. *yawn*

joy of being a kid for a day or two

i've a lovely saturday! hubbi & i went to mum's place for some really nice home-cooked food for lunchie. i miss my mum's deep fried pork chop (dipped in soda-biscuit crusts)! *yummy*
after which we discovered a new bus # at my mum's place - - - # 5 which got us to town in less than 20 mins time via highway.

dinner was at one of those small eateries next to cold storage at taka basement. we settled for a jap outlet since i've craving for katsu curry & it seems to specialise in just that!

mine is pork tenderloins with ebi prawns! the curry is nice & a set is quite reasonably priced between $11-$14 with no additional charges.
anyway, look how round is my face. i've really pile on the pounds! even my mum commented on my thunder thighs. damN!

after dinner, hubbi & i had fun browsing the toys section! i love getting lost in this department, feel like a kid again! and i cant bring myself to get Taboo for the nth time. anyone wanna buy for me??? lolz.

and in the end, with the husband's encouragement, i bought home this!
-a glass paint set!


This is how it works:
Step 1: choose a design that comes with it. put a clear sheet over it.
Step 2: Using the black glass paint, trace the outline & give it approx. 30 mins to partially dry.

Step 3: Let your creativity flows with the 10 paint colors that come with it! fill in the design with colors of your choice!

*tada* a cute giraffe is borne! Now you need to wait 12 hours for it to dry completely before you can peel it off the clear sheet to stick onto any glass surface.

okie, i admit. bad choice of color here but given the limited paint colors, i've a green reindeer & chinese santa claus in the end. haha.

and after a day, i finally get to peel off giraffe & stick it on our notice board in the kitchen!
soooo cute! n soo fun!

skin skin woes

i am very upset with my skin condition. :(
the breakout on my face is old story. im not too much bothered by it now. its kinda under control, AFTER i stopped using the prescibed medicine. how stupid.

but now i've hive like rashes flaring up ard my tummy area! *madness*
this has happened before when im in cold environment, like our honeymoon trip in greece/turkey when the temperature dipped below 3 degree celcius.
i recovered when im back in sg. but now its back! whats up with my skin or the air-con in my office? is it too dry/cold.
bleh. its very itchy & sometimes i cant sleep at night! what a bother.
with a good moisturising cream, i hope this problem will go away soon!

AND, my sore lips is acting up again. i've dry lips all along & with bad environment (read: cold/dry), it will get swollen n puffy n red. n now it IS like that. my lips is surrounded by this ridiculous circle of redness. they look like an ugly version of nelly's hahaha!

sianz! hope my skin problems will heal soon! but my cruise trip in may may trigger them again. bother bother bother!

movie review!

time for movie review again! watched 2 movies recently with promising start but slight letdown at the end. here go!

#23 (spoilers ahead)
caught this show with hubbi last sunday. had rather high expectations for the premise of the show sounded really intriguing/entertaining & its one of jim carrey's rare foray into serious films.

plot is simple: one man stumbled upon a book, aptly named #23, which had a protagonist who is obsessed with the no.23. suddenly, carrey's character realised many disturbing similarities between him & the book character. & everywhere he turns, the no.23 is prevalent. his life is moving in almost the same direction as the book. which is a bad idea, cos the book character ended up killing his lover, & carrey's character has no wish to kill his wife. so what he must do (or so he think), is to find out who's the author & solve the mystery before the bad deed happens.

the show was good in the beginning where we just chugged along with the flow of the show (which is kinda fast). n no.23 is really everywhere, so fun! lolz.
but as the show progress, i can almost see the twist coming up. and the ending is let down by the totally predictable, safe twist.
in short, carrey IS the author himself. having a dark past & conveniently suffer from memory loss after writing the book. fate had it that the book found him again, n he get to clear his skeletons in the closet.
*yawn*

i would much prefer the author to be the wife & see how the plot ties it back. but perhaps just too hard for hollywood nowadays. bah!

sunshine (spoilers ahead also)
met up with jx & dan yesterday for this show. watch it mostly for cillian murphy. hehe. i remember i 1st saw him in "28 days later" & was thinking this guy 的眼睛真的是misty 的不可以! so pretty! then i saw him again in "red eye" & think ewww this guy looks weird. what i didnt know IS he looks weird in "28 days". lolz.
still his eyes are gorgeous! just look at 'em in "sunshine"!

okie, back to the show. plot is simple too: 50 years down the road, the sun is dying so earth needs to send out a team on mission to "re-ignite" it with a stellar bomb (using almost all nuclear resources on earth). the show started with our cast, an 8-person team of scientists/astronauts setting off in spaceship - Icarus II. as all missions in space are, things started going awry when they receive signals from Icarus I, the 1st team to be send out 7 years back & which disappear ever since. making a detour to Icarus 1, hell break loose. whatever can go wrong in space (scientifically) WENT wrong.

it was really good so far. the problems seem real, the way the characters respond/react seem logical & the CGI effect of the space & sun really leave you kinda breathless. humans are really like so small in comparison to the vast galaxy!

but as all seemingly good shows, sunshine has to introduce a totally irrelvant & letdown twist in the last 20 mins. which totally ruin the show! bah! bah! bah!
i'm gonna spoil it here: apparantly, the previous captain from Icarus I went religious-mad & think that its god's will that humankind should die out. so somehow he managed to get all Icarus I members (except himself of cos) to abandon the mission & just die. and he sneaked into Icarus II & create havoc in the last 20 mins of the show.

i HATE this part. i HATE him!
1) all astronauts should be tested & deemed physically & psychologically fit before setting off such a mission. how come he just turn siao halfway!
2) why is he still alive (all burnt up in scarred skin is very ridiculous) & so strong DESPITE being trapped in the spaceship for like 7 years (read: no exercise n boredom can kill just almost anything!)?! and if he's sure its inevitable that humankind will die, why didnt he die with his crew?! selfish pig!
3) simply cos he made this great science-fi show degenerates into some cheap gore slasher film at the end! *grr*

okie, enough about my angst.

time did it again. the long weekend flashed past like THAT fast! whizzzzz....
and the husband and i've been to lotsa places this long weekend. all over our small island, heh.

let me do a recap of the weekend like i always love to do. in chronological order, of cos! :)
thursday
my boss wanted things to be done last minute & i stayed in office till 7+. *sobbie*. all plans to meet hubbi at city hall was foiled for i managed to make myself feel v v v tired by then. so he ta bao my fav dinner back home again -- soup spoon! so happy!
we spent the evening n night lazing in front of the tube, basking in the knowledge that its only friday tomorrow. :)

friday
woke up bright & shiny in the morning & made our way to my mum's place in no time. nothing beats home cooked food! *yummy*
i miss mum's cooking. :(
it was off to parkway parade after that! where i religiously had my durian ice cream from scoopz. *yummy* it was nice just window shopping at all kinda stuff & before long, i grabbed a shepard's pie from Don's pie (which jean has been raving to me about) and made our way to east coast park!

yeah, u heard me right! east coast park. lolz. if not for my hall mates having a chalet over there for the long weekend, its v rare of me to pop by there! it was fun seeing them all over again though the husband got grumpy halfway. heh.
i had fun just bbq-ing and polishing away sinful food (think sotong balls, satays, taiwan sausages, chippy chips etc). :)

saturday
a short n rather uneventful day. went to marina sq for some window shopping. but was back in the house in less than 4 hours time. no thanks to me.
was feeling rather unwell & tired so hubbi had to usher me home fast. spent the evening feeling bleh. my in-laws came to look for us and i gained myself 一打的燕窝. *grinz*
hubbi shall have no share of that at all. *muahaha - evil laugh*

sunday
left for my gramps in the noon. i miss my big extended family & i got to eat home-cooked food once again! *yay*
my auntie peanut-lotus soup is so good i drank THREE bowls. talk abt being a disgusting pig.

big-head cousin was kind enough to drop us at orchard. gotten aware of something disturbing/funny. goes like this: cousin's gf called him when he's driving us. unable to take the phonecall himself, he got me to do so. so i was fretting how to tell her im me, as i gathered it must be horrifying to hear a girl pick up your bf's phone call.
in the end, i intro meself the generic boring way:" hello, this is ah-han's cousin. he's driving me & my husband to town now, hence he cant listen to your call".
after that, i asked my big-head cousin:"so what does your gf know me by? cousin? ah-hui?"
and he just said,:"ah bui".

!!!!i was totally disgusted. thats like my nickname by my cousins when im *ahem* kinda plump back when we were totally young, like pre-primary? the nickname is supposed to be contained within our circle & die with us! *grrr* whatever.

for the free ride, i managed to refrain myself from twisting his neck. okie, tired by the long post. more updates soon!

had dinner @ sushi tei raffles city with ah D, grace n gb last fri. somehow the katsu don set there is not really appealing. lucky dessert afterwards at Haagen daaz was really good!

and last pic to end it all - shopping therapy. been feeling kinda crappy this week so went to town to look for the husband yesterday. dropped by isetan, determined to use up all my remaining vouchers, and managed to get these!
hope the make-a-difference moisturiser will really make a difference to my skin heh. since my breakout late last year, i ve almost stopped all kind of skincare but decided recently, thats not the way.
even people with oily skin need to take care of their skin, no?
will try the charcoal mask tonight, hope it 'll work! :))

its the start of the month again. how dreadful cos its my reporting period again!
reports to be churned out, analysis to be done, ad-hoc meetings with my evil boss etc. and all these madness wont end till the 12th!
im still able to go home fairly on the dot but its getting harded when everyone ard you is working late. bah!

but im strong (despite being a 病猫 these few weeks) & a survivor!
i will pull through to take whats rightfully mine end of this mth --- my BONUS! hiaks.

its CONFIRMED - our 3D2N Malacca/KL cruise triP! *wee*
hubbi & i will have our short getaway in mid may! a mth filled with holidays (2 only, to be exact). *yummy*
i cant wait to just eat my heart out, stroll along the deck with the husband & have hearty chats (to his horror) in our cabin. :))

and oh, yesterday went to sistic to grab 2 concert tickets. you guys will never guess whats that for.
its.... *drums roll*..... 汪明荃 concert! lolz. before u think im mad to attend this concert, stop! im bringing my mum for mother's day lah!
heez. it'll be on the 12th of may & i hope that i wont fall asleep among the screaming aunties. lolz.

*burp* my lunch left me feeling bloated once again. bleh.

my weekdays are falling into a horrible pattern of wakey-up -> drag myself to work -> feeling lethargic for most of the day -> 630 finally arrived after painstaking wait -> dashed home for dinner with hubbi -> rot infront of the tube -> early retreat to bed by 11pm.
goodness! i feel like an old lady! why do i have to feel so bloody tired nowadays! *sigh*

hubbi was very sweet yesterday. he actually asked me out for dinner after work which is rare since he's such a homebody (meaning his idea of bliss is to make a beeline for home after work everyday).
but being a fudgy old lady, i turned him down cos i was too bloody tired, remember? and he went to tabao my fav. soup spoon (including my all-time fav - wedges!) back home for our dinner. *yippee*
thanks, bb. i appreciated that.

and now its near the end of the working week, finally! weekend will fly past like nobody's business but still glad it flys past at least.
i need a break sooN! a short getaway! the husband and i are contemplating another cruise this may! *hehe*
getting hooked to the lazy lifestyle. this time a shorter trip (3D2N) to malacca/KL perhaps!

been some time since i last blogged! said it before but i want to say it agaiN! the weekend comes & goes too fast, yesh, too fast!
struggled through the long long working week, and before i know it, now's the end of sat night!

met up with the dowers last night for nelly's farewell dinner. yesh! nelly is leaving for NYC soon for the next 2 years. *sobbie* i will miss her sooooo mucH!
dinner was at alexandra's HK street. despite rave reviews from many, i found the food so-so still. :I
after dinner, some of us went to this restaurant/cafe/live band place called Oosh. the ambience is fantastic! the potato wedges is delicious, albeit a little pricey!
had fun just laughing with them like old times! how i miss their company!

i cant believe i slept my saturday away but i just did today. i slept till 10+ to wake up to brunch brought back by hubbi. only to find out im having an attack of a mini migraine so i went back to sleep from noon to 3+.
gosh! there goes my sat morn & nooN! *madness*

oh, must mention here that the husband can be quite sweet if he wanted to. he was saying that there will be a mini surprise awaiting me when i came back from dinner yesterday. so i did when i came home past midnight. he had rented 2 DVDs for us to watch over the weekend!
one of them being "Die Hard 1" which i wanted to watch for sometime. umm... yes, that bruce willis film. hahah.
and, the surprise didnt end here. when i went to bathe, i found "Godfather 2" dvd in the bathroom! was touched cos i had wanted to watch that show for the longest time (okie, since a few months back only) and he bought it! :)

anyway, back to "Die hard 1". we caught it today after i wakey up from my migraine attack. not as good as i thought but still quite a decent action film. nowhere near the league of Rocky. ha, im still obsessed with Rocky balboa!

left town for dinner with hubbi at california pizza kitchen. the peking duck pizza & potato leek soup is yummy! go try it if you've the chance!

met up with frances, jean for some window shopping (for me) at far east. was feeling tired by the way we parted way despite sleeping for so much today. :P

thursday (on MC)
been trying to catch up on rest the whole week. finally able to do so on thursday. spent alomost the whole day rolling ard in bed but still feeling pretty shitty and unwell. *sigh*
went out in the evening to meet candice they all at the isetan sale. maybe its the thronging crowd, maybe its me feeling unwell, i actually didnt get a single piece of stuff from the sale! unless you count the socks i got for hubbi. soooo unlike me!
at least dinner at TCC managed to cheer me up. hubbi joined us for dinner and we sure had alot of laughter coming from 4 girls + 2 guys! lolz.

friday (on half-day MC)
went to work for the 1st half of the day to clear some work stuff. work is really a pain in the arse! :( sometimes i wonder how long i can continue here before i got seriously burnt out.
but going by the flow, it seems that i will stay for another year. *shivers* i went off after lunch since im actually still on MC & my headache will really surface if i stayed on further!

went off to meet candice for lunch in town and we've fun just having chit-a-chatty session ovcer lunch. & window shopping at LV, gucci & all the atas-alike shops after that! ") sure perked up my feelings! heh.

left home for a quick nap & woke up feeling yukky again. but still, i made my way to meet jx,dan & zm for dinner. its been sometimes since the 4 of us hang out & it was nice. heard some good news (or so i thought) & feel really glad for my very good friend. :) good luck, mate!

心中的大石终于放下了！：）
hubbi & me made our way to my mum's place in the noon. after which, we went to town to catch "300".
the show is fantastic, i love it! the graphics is gorgeous, which reminded me alot of sin city (one of my fav. movie for last year, by the way). and the no. of abs in the show is blinding. heh.
anyway, the show really protrayed the spartans as a courageous lots! i want to be a spartan too, with the abs to boot! lolz.

dinner was at 旺角 at cineleisure. the milk tea is delicious!
and im wearing my new gg<5,>

oh, and i bought myself a new wallet! :))))
was showing the husband which wallet im thinking of getting myself with my bonus payout next month, when he psycho (not that i need much, anyway) to just get it on the spot!
and so i did and im a v happy girl now!! *wow wee*

unwell ba bee boo blabbers (again)

been feeling unwell for the past few days. hope this yukky feeling will pass soon!
this week has been a long and torturous one. and its only wed now! damn!
may it end soon with good news for hubbi & me!

okie some random updates on my boring life:
1) finished the book "the historian" finally. actually in a short span of 5 days. not that im a particularly fast reader (i dont really deny im one too, heh), but i speed-read some of the pages. the prose is just too flowery for my liking. no climax no twist at the end. its a pretty book with decidedly blah plot. i cant accept this. my high hopes for it dashed. :}
the only good thing that come out of this is it got me interested in a character in history. the character who inspired Dracula in Bram Stoker's classic novel.... DRACULA! lolz.

supposedly, its this Count Vlad Tepes Dracula who govern over Wallachia (which is in Romania) during the 15th century. he's one perverse character who L-O-V-E-S to torture his subjects & enemies alike. by his fav. method - impalement. in case, you are not aware what impalement means, its just sticking sticks or anything sharp through things. bodies for his case. :x
eeks. pretty gross stuff but got me intrigued nevertheless. so a quick research on him left me horrified at some of the deeds he did.
okie enough of dark n gory stuff, back to white fluffy thingy!

2) shopping shalala!
went for a quick lunch with ser yesterday at vivo which ended with me getting yet another top from GG<5!>
a piece for $38 is considered cheap for GG<5,no?>

3) finally caught "Rocky Balboa". think its more for (new) die-hard fan like me. bored the husband alittle though. guess he was waiting for those ring scenes which refuse to come till the last ten mins or so. ha. for me, its not as good as Rocky I but it will do. heh.

4) we've finally placed the booking fee for a car last weekend! an OPC car no less since we dont need it for work (given the proximity to our workplaces) but more for the weekends when we need to shuffle between our mums' houses.

so....we decided on Honda Jazz, a yellow one no less. *pretty pretty*. the package comes with free solar films, sports rims, reverse sensor etc all thrown in so i guess its a pretty neat one. price is a little steep even after the $17k rebates. bah.
but good thing is, our agent informed us yesterday that the price went out by another $1.5k after we confirmed. *phwee*

COE bidding is next mon which i hope we can get. but even after that, we still need to wait for at least 2 mths (according to the salesman) before we can see the car. *sigh*
no choice, seems like demand for car is high high high for the time being.

5) just gotten news for our group bonus for FY2006. left me a happy old lady. even after pro-ration (i joined my current company late mar last year), its still a good sum! guess i wont have much luck with my individual bonus since i have a lousy work attitude (or so deemed by my boss, bleh).
whatever. im gonna get myself a bag!!! and if, if , if , if ,if my finances allow, a new wallet as well! *swoon*

Rocky Craze

Rocky
yes, im talking about the original Part 1 Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky" back in 1976. before you dissed me for watching such a show, you must read on to find out why its gonna worth every mins of your time!

for, "Rocky" ROCKS! lolz! im not so sure about Rocky II to V but I is really really good. pretty amazed to find out that its written by the italian stallone, no less! Remember in my last post, my review on "Taxi Driver" by Robert De Niro getting nominated for Oscars best picture? Why, Best Picture was nabbed by "Rocky" for that year! and stallone was nominated for best actor alongside with De Niro for his rocky balboa role! *wowwee*

so that really says something about this film. it was really good. 1st of all, there is only like 5-8 mins of "action" scenes (aka ring scenes) in the show. which means the rest of the show is about solid character development, good pacing plot & witty dialouge rolled together! stallone really shines as the painfully endearing protaganist who "go the distance" to have new found respect for himself. as Rocky's mantra is:"you never start living till you start believing in yourself"! the show is really inspiring.

plot is simple: rocky is a "bum" who took up boxing matches with equally "bum" opponents for some measy money & collects money for "loan sharks" on the side line. he's in love with his best buddy's sis who is very shy and all of his cheesy jokes are lost on her. somehow, luck comes along his way when the heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed, choose him as a opponent to contest for the title again as Creed thought it would be entertaining for a novice to be against him. Also, rocky's itallian roots will make a good backdrop for the match is scheduled on 4th of july (bcos america is supposed to be discovered by an italian..ha). so rocky has 5 weeks to train up & Creed is confident that he'll knock out Rocky by Round 3 (max rounds in Boxing is ard 15-18, i think). so naturally, rocky has no chance of winning but he never stop believing himself that he can "last the distance".

so we follow him in his now famous routine - hitting the pork, running up the flight of stairs at the museum of philadephia & that song "Gonna Fly now"! very very inspiring! & we learnt along the way that he knew that he cant win but he just want to last more than that 3 rounds.

and he did! he lasted till the very last round. the show has a very nice climatic ending where u cant help rooting for rocky the underdog. even though he eventually did not emerge as the winner (yes, creed retained the title despite rocky lasting till the end), we feel that he's one nevertheless. :)

gosh, all the above for Rocky. i must be mad.

whatever. and no one is gonna stop me from catching the 6th installment "Rocky Balboa"!

What's eating gilbert grape?
yes! finally i managed to get a copy of the very scarce very scarce DVD of "what's eating gilbert grape"!! its a 1993 classic starring my all time fav - johnny depp & Leo diCaprio! i like to think of it as a sleeper hit. and its drama/comedy/coming-of-age all rolled into one. cool!
its depp & Di Caprio at their very best, i would say.
now, only left the part to watch it with hubbi to convince him of that. *evil smile*

Goodfellas
yes, and i managed to get my hands on "Goodfellas", one of the films with De Niro & Scorsese partnership! im gonna watch it tonight!
