oct babies 2nd bday bash!!

time flies!! its time for the piggies' 2nd bday bash!
im so glad that the mummies from the forum have managed to stay close and united from the last bday bash to make this 2nd bash possible!
Oct's mummies & babies ROCK! heh.

this time round, the venue is at.....

POLLIWOGS!

we booked a small function room to cater for food as well for the cake-cutting session.
the place was really small and ventilation bad!
when you squeeze 30-odd adults and nearly 20 toddlers in a room with bad ventilation, you got hot and sticky. bleh.
still, the company made the whole thing pleasant still.
so glad to see all the mummies and babies again! though im a good 1hr+plus late. :P

excited toddlers all crowding around the cake.
shouted at yz to look at the camera and he gave me a blur face. @_@

look @ how engrossed they are with the cake! LOL

sweaty yz

happy yz playing with bubbles!

after cake-cutting session, its time to bring the lil'terror out to the indoor playground for some fun!
wah, i think this place is more tiring for the adults than the toddlers.
i was all over the place trying to keep up with yz like a mad woman.
and soo crowded as its public holiday yesterday!
personally, i prefer gogobambini as the slides are not as slippery as the ones @ polliwogs.
the bum-bum will go bump(!) when you reach the end of slides cos its too fast!
still, yz had a good time and its all that matters. luckily he didnt keep up a huge fuss when we asked him to leave at 1+ pm.
well kiddo, mammy + pappy will bring you to such indoor playground soon alrighty.
at least before i got really heavy..

attempting the slide @ toddlers' section

submerging himself happily in the ball pit!
it was a really fun BUT tiring morning for us.
i wonder where will the 3rd bday bash be for the little ones next year?! :))

busy weekend - too tiring for a heavier me..

saturday:
was supposed to go the in-laws house for lunch but nephew was down with stomach flu so we didnt go in case the virus was passed to us.
had a slow morning doing grocery shopping @ bukit merah town centre and got yz a barney lantern!
cant wait to light the candles and let him bring downstairs soon! :)

the ng family went back to snooze till mid afternoon before really starting the day.
after some housechores and washing up, we were finally ready to get out of the house at 5pm plus!
went to the kia showroom to know more about the new forte model.
yes, hubbi was slightly interested in changing car though im prefectly fine with our jazz.
well, whatever makes him happy... :P

so the husband went around busy talking with the sales person while the mummy and son enjoyed a quiet moment at the bar counter, sipping hot milo. :)

next stop: to vivo!
just a quiet dinner there and a short visit to the toy'r us for yz.
i was really tired at night even though we didnt seem to do very much during the day.

sunday: the really busy day for poor moi.
we went to dempset for breakfast @ CA.

i still prefer the wholesome breakfast here! yummy! though yz saw gogobambini and kept ranting wanting to go to "playground".
we didnt let him go since he will be going polliwogs tomorrow! (see next post)

happy baby @ CA

me and baby!

after breakfast, we left for some (window) shopping @ ion & isetan scotts!
ion's B4 is really hubbi and my fav. hangout place now. sure got some small snacks here and there for us to eat. heheh.
isetan was threadbare with people and yz had fun roaming the toys section in peace. :)

yz relaxing in his stroller
after lunch, we left for my mum's place for the small and old babies' naps.
so while the husband and the son napped, i chatted with my mum.
late afternoon, we bade the baby good bye and left for home to change clothings.
yes, hubbi and me were both attending wedding dinners at 2 separate hotels.
20th sept must be an auspicious date for weddings!
lucky hubbi continued resting at home while i cheong-ed to dempsey (again!) to meet up with candice, jx & tanny.
there was a flea market @ the house area. :))
though its really too crowded for me and not to mention that i cant buy most of the clothing. bleh.
still, i managed to get a pair of comfy nice suede flats, ala abit english loafers style.
may take photo and post later when im more free.

THEN, after that, i went hotel intercon to attend jana's wedding.
wah super tired by then.
the wedding was simple and nice for my standards. i like. :)
i left straight after the table photo-taking with the couple and went straight home.
zonked out in bed with the husband only at around midnight.
utterly tired.
i should not attempt such a packed-full day again.... @_@

just past the half-way mark!

yongzhi is gonna have a baby didi next Jan!! :)
just did my detailed scan yesterday and the little bean is very active in my tum-tum.
kept flipping and flipping till the scan was done in the longest time. :P
surprisingly, my weight gain for this time round is much slower as compared to when i was having yz.
maybe its due to me falling sick for the past month or having my hands full with yz.
so far, i've gained around 6kg by now?
so long the little bean's weight gain is steady, im fine! :)

just hope to enjoy my 2nd trimester as much as possible before the tiring last stage.
wish me luck!

h1n1 scare

it all started 3 weeks back when yz suddenly came down with a runny nose, cough & fever on a saturday.
as we lost sleep sponging him to battle the raging high fever (highest at 39.4!), i got worried.
hence, brought him to kk 1st thing the next morning.

doc commented that almost 90% of flu cases now are related to h1n1 so they don't bother testing anymore.
they just prescribed normal flu meds as well as tamiflu (!) to him.
hubbi was quite against feeding tamiflu to yz as he was not comfy with it.
for me, i rather not take chances and persuade him to follow doc's instructions.

side effects stated are nausea, diarrhea, headache, viomitting etc.
not all people will get it but for those who do so, the side effects will be gone by 2nd/3rd dosage.
true enough, yz experienced lao sai for the 1st day he started the tamiflu course (lasted 5 days).
and as the tamiflu is extremely bitter for little ones, he viomitted twice over the 5 days course when taking it. :(

doc also commented if the fever does not subsided in 5 days time, we have to bring him back.
i was so down and worried. :(

and to make things worse, i got the flu symptoms on tuesday morning!!
made a trip to GP and got some normal meds.
as i belong to the high risk group, GP mentioned that if fever ever occur on the same/subsequent day, i've to go kk directly.

and......the very next day, my asthma was triggered and i got a low grade fever around 38. :((
went to kk straight with hubbi and they made me do the swab test for h1n1!!
as i am both preggy and has respiratory system problems...
they prescribed me the tamiflu as well and asked me to start the course immediately.
again, hubbi was quite against it and asked if i should start the course after the test results were out.
but me being me, i decided to be safe and dont take chances.

as i've asthma, i need to be on the inhaler puffer every 4 hours to control my breathlessness.
doc said if im still breathless even after administering the inhaler, i should go back to kk immediately.
she didnt say much but i know that will mean im having lung infection which will lead to pneumonia (the leading death cause for h1n1). :(

so a very very worried me went home and started taking tamiflu and puffing the inhaler diligently.
at the same time, making calls to my mum to check on yz's progress.
it was such a stressful period for me.

AND, the results came back the very next morning and it was POSITIVE.
how sway. im like the 1st and only person i know to have this.
and being a worrywart, i started thinking for the worst and getting very upset.
luckily, hubbi was around to give me support and comfort.
and i got some mild side effects from the tamiflu too, namely headache and nausea.

anyway, yz was slowly recovering during this time and this is a weight off my heart.
but as he was not tested and we aint sure if his flu is h1n1, he has to stay at my mum's place for 7 days during the time i was quarantined at home.
:(
i missed him so badly that time.

for myself, the flu symptoms were gone pretty fast by the 3rd day but the asthma just wont go away!
normally, my asthma will be gone in a week time with meds/inhaler but this time round it always back.
i was worried so went back to the GP for another round of consultation after my quarantine period.
maybe the virus attack made my immunity system down, but i have no choice but to continue my inhaler routine till it goes away by itself.

so this is my 3rd week on inhaler and im taking 2 times puff a day. hopefully, by end of this week, i will be totally off it.
sigh.

the whole saga has been a roller-coaster ride for me both physically and emotionally. the good things are yz has since recovered much, i will have immunity against this virus and hubbi (thank god) remained healthy throughout the whole episode.

my mum is really worried about my health as im so much more prone to asthma attacks when im pregnant.
i remembered having a very bad attack during the 2nd tri when i was carrying yz.
so she is advising me against having another one in the future.
im seriously considering it too. sigh.
i guess only the husband is happy with this direction. :P

anyway, im glad that this episode is (about) to be over.
now im just a little tad paranoid with us getting sick.
hubbi says life has to go on just need to be more diligent with hygeiene.
i guess thats true bah...

some random photos over the weekend:

a very happy yz to be going out. he was home-grounded for almost 2 weeks..

what a day!

yz was staying over at my mum's place yesternight so hubbi and me decided to have some couple time before fetching him.
so we made our way to centrepoint/starhub centre in the early afternoon.

guess what.
as per the mean hubbi predicted, me the klutz driver "almost" got into an accident. :(
i always have the habit of braking late and yesterday, i did it again.
and our jazz "kissed" the back of a toyota crown cab. :(
my heart stopped and i just froze there. we got off in the middle of the road together with the cabbie.
understandably, the cabbie was unhappy but at least he didnt raise voice or threw vulgarities at me.
and luckily, toyota crown cab has a soft rubbery type bumper.
the cabbie checked and noted no noticeable damage to his bumper and he left it at that before driving off.
phew... but i got a good scolding from the husband.
:( well, really got to be more careful in the future.

and i got a new hP!
a rose pink C905!

went to starhub centre to source for a good deal for a new hp as my contract is ready to be re-contract.
wanted to get a C903 initially but they were having a promotion for C905 which makes it cheaper!
C905 is an older and heavier model than C903.
But, it has other plus points apart from being cheaper than C903 now:
- it has xenon flash as compared to the LED flash of C903
- support wifi while C903 doesnt (!!)
- comes with a 2GB memory card as compared to the 1GB from C903
- and it comes in pink lor. heh.

so i have a new phone!
and hubbi got it for me! thanks dear! muacks! :)

some photos with the new phone:
i really like the shutter speed and good flash function. taking shots of an active toddler is a much easier job now than now previous SE P1i!

got cravings for waraku potato mentai so popped over for it after the hp purchase! :)

hubbi with his katsu curry don

after that, we went centrepint for some shopping since robinson sale is on.
hubbi got himself a new pants while i got myself a new blusher from shu uemura.

reached mum's place ard late afternoon to fetch yz.
only to learn that he's down with runny nose, cough & fever. :(
but good thing is, he is still pretty much his active self.

at mum's place

ready to go!

as he is sick, we shelved the idea of bringing him out for dinner.
made a beeline for home. fed him fever meds and he promptly fell asleep for a nap.
hubbi and me used the time to whip up a simple delicious home-made dinner.

we cooked the Spaghetti Bolognese together and hubbi made mango smoothie for us as well! :)
yz woke up ard 7-ish for a little bit of spaghetti too and he loved it! :)
i'm going to sleep with him soon at 10+pm to prepare for a long night of sponging him.
hope he'll recover soon!

my little sing-along boy

yz has always like songs of all kinds.
he will have this fascinated look when we sing new songs to him.
he especially like those coupled with dance actions and he will dance along when in the mood.
after attending childcare, he can sing much more songs.
nowadays, he like to sing to himself and it is so cute to hear him ramble out the lyrics.
some of the times, they come out wrong and out of tune.
but oh so cute!!

some of the songs he can sing:
1) baa baa black sheep
2) twinkle little star
3) london bridge
4) humpty dumpty
5) 客人来
6)三轮车
7)三只老虎
8)happy birthday song
9) 当我们同在一起
10)小毛庐

its really a joy to hear him sing everyday! :)

taipei part 5 - misc

this is really funny:

must be really nice huh? too bad my tummy was too full to try the food..

baby's room at the airport is so kawaii lor!

i didnt expect myself to shop at all for this trip.
not with the limited time on shopping and food +rest being the main theme for the trip.
still, i managed to shop quite a bit.

1) 2 dresses, 1 vest, 1 top and 1 tights
2) mascara & eyeliner
3) 2 novels
4) 1 dvd (starring 阮经天! woot!)
5) flats from playboy. really comfy!

6) accessories!
all of the below for around S$75? quite cheap ,eh?
the quality was quite good and solid! :)

ok, that concluded my well-rested and spent trip! :)

taipei part 4 - XMD + FOOD!!

as our hotel area is in XMD area, we spent like 50% of our time there!?
as ayu said, can get lost in XMD area for a good long time. heh.

oh, and of cos eating here and there non-stop throughout the day wherever we were.
ah long and me gained a few kilos just from this trip! eeks!

let's see what's up at XMD and what we ate during the trip:

cannot miss 鼎泰豐 when in taipei!
we went to the one at 忠孝东路 for lunch one of the day.

my 排骨面 was really nice. not to mention the ever-nice 小笼包!

dessert-time @ 唐朝。my fav. black seasame paste!

alot of teens in cosplay costumes come evening.
like mini harajuku! but of cos, the harajuku is more interesting than here. :P

entrance to XMD.

we had one of our lunches @ this jap restaurant @ XMD.
apparantly its quite famous for its conveyor belt which comes in the form of a train!
food is cheap and tasty too!

hubbi and his pork chop set meal only at NTD 128! = approx. S$6-7 only.
the pork chops portion was huge and really tasty! :)
my tempura soba set was nice too!

having tea break - waffles w ice cream @ one of the branches of Ikari coffee over there.

they have this cute gadget which will vibrate and flash when your order is ready so you can bring it to the counter to collect it. :)

the must-try mee-sua @ XMD. again, hubbi enjoyed it more than me.

me @ cinema street around XMD area.

tea break (yes, tea break is katsu curry beef with omu rice shared with hubbi. no wonder the kilos. *roll eyes*) @ taipei underground mall

taking a break

dinner @ one of the normal pasta restaurant common in XMD area (on the 2nd floor).
they have quite a few shops with such swinging seats.
quite fun to have your dinner on them.
and since most eateries are on the 2nd floor (retail shops are on the 1st floor), its quite nice to people-watch from above.
i like! :)
