pictures from my K800i baby!
hubbi finally managed to get about unwrapping our buy from Phuket for the home. its an elongated plate with 5 candles on it. pretty, isnt it? :)
it's now residing on our dining table but will be shifted to the tv conole platform once its cleared of all the photo albums. :b
met up with the guys on thursday @ bugis. realised we spent a considerable time reminiscing about the past alot nowadays. anyway, blurry pix. no thanks to daniel.

had a great saturday. lazed in bed till nearly noon. woke up to lunch bought by hubbi. THEN has another nap from 1-2pm. really feel like a pig. after which, both of us get ready for yet another movie outing!
hubbi and i made our way to The Cathay to catch "babel". kinda like the cathay for its lack of crowds though the shops there dont exactly cater to my taste. a tad too high-end. heh.
we had a mini tea-break at this cafe there before the show started. cant remember the name but the decor of the cafe is really nice. and the cups & bowl there are all lopsided. interesting!
see, the cup is lopsided.
anyway, the food is quite nice. especially their mushroom soup. the husband and i are thinking of re-visiting it for other special occasions since the pricing is reasonable & the place seems rather quiet (which we like).
we went on to catch "babel" which hubbi declared to be the worst movie of his 2007, despite him catching only THREE movies (including Babel) so far this year. i dun dare to argue too much with him on that since it seems to be my WORST movie so far this year. hmm, i should have learnt my lesson from "21 grams". what makes me think that i would like this show when i didnt enjoy "21 grams" and these 2 shows share the same director. bah.
i hope "the illusionist" will be better. & oh, i think im gonna catch "bobby" as well soon. will the list of movies-to-catch ever end?
after the show we went to plaza sing for dinner before making our way to chinatown. it's nearly 8+ when we arrived & we managed to "hear" some fireworks. lolz. the fireworks was set off from the top of building beside us so we only managed to see some of it only.
we picked up some CNY decorations for the home. i wanted to buy more but as usual, ah long forbade that! bleh.
decor is up at chinatown!
once home, we went to put up the decorations! nice, huh? :)

im a movie junkie
the king, babel & more
went watching "the king" with zm on tuesday after work at the cathay. been a long time since i last caught a movie with him. if memory didnt fail me, brokeback seems to be the last film with him. anyway, was pretty amused by what he told me about the movie & jx. he has asked her previously if she was interested in catching the show with him. mixing up with "the last king of scotland", she said she was not interested in watching a black guy. AND to our immense amusement, there IS a black guy at the start & the end of the show. oh well, it was funny to us back then at least.
okie, the king was a weird film. i cant say if its good/bad. all i can say is its not a boring film. it had me & zm at the edge of our seats at least for the 2nd half of the show. i remember reading a review elsewhere saying its a thriller. and i was perplexed that a plot about a guy who went to find his father, only to realise that his dad has no intention of acknowledging him now that he had another family on his own. so the lead (gael garcia bernal!!!)went on to seduce his half-sister & murder his half-brother and so on so forth.
so what can be thrilling about this? but yes! its a thriller cos we were shocked/scared stiff at how the show will end for there is no way to end it! its just too shocking.
lolz. im not sure what im rambling about either. but gael garcia bernal is really the saving grace for this otherwise rather bizarre film. he is really good, albeit him being not too tall.
and im really on a movie rush. managed to convince the husband to catch "babel" with me this saturday. :) gael garcia bernal again! and im thinking of catching "the illusionist" on sunday by myself. anyone wanna join me? there is edward norton, ya know?
did i miss out any more watch-worthy films?
shopping
just paid my credit card bill for last month shopping with this mth pay. something doesnt sound too right. but im not gonna think too much.
so, i went to buy myself another pair of shoes from zara yesterday! it was flat, patented white in color & price was slashed by 65%! *wow wee* so it costs me only $30. to be paid using my next mth pay, of cos. :P
*sweet*
when is my isetan vouchers arriving. i want to get my CNY clothes soon!

now & then, movies, the weekend
now and then
was lamenting (again) to the husband during the weekend how shitty my job is when it suddenly dawned upon me that every last bit of drive in work that i ever have is snuffed out. or is that really the case? though many and even i, myself believed that im every bit of the slacker i proclaimed to be, but there were times i actually work hard & derive job satisfaction from my audit days. i even have to concur with hubbi to make sure i wasnt dreaming up all these. it was true that i will "on" my lappy & start doing work on a saturday for stretch of hours till the husband got impatient and asked me to stop working. despite always reaching for work late, i was up in the morning by 7+ to start doing work back then. and i remember vividly the light-headed feeling i have whenever i completed some sections of audit work/meeting the deadlines in advance!
but over here, i dont feel any of the above at all! i'm not sure if this is the job's doing or im the let one letting the job get to me.
sometimes when i look around, i saw my driven friends working hard at their career (as opposed to my "job") & i feel like i should be doing the same thing too.
we are only young once and there is no better time than now to work hard & see how far you can go/achieve.
*hmmmm* but on second thoughts, maybe my drive is not meant to be used in work but in other areas i guess. anyway, i may/may not stay 1 more year in my current company but regardless, i hope i can find that passion (no matter how teeny weeny) back in my work!
movies (beware, spoilers ahead)
i may have started slow but im surely catching up! jan is always a busy month for me in terms of movie-watching. with the oscars & golden globes coming up soon, there are heaps of good movies hitting our silver screen.
so i've caught 2 movies over the weekend (yes, 2 in 2 days) with the hubbi in agony.
1) Blood Diamond
the movie is a blast! it has action, drama, comedy, romance all rolled into one helluva show! and leonardo is getting very good at what he is doing - acting! i'm shamelessly in love with him! anyway he was nominated for golden globe best actor award for not one, but TWO of his movies this year! for both blood diamond & the departed. he was wayyy better in blood diamond! i hope he can nab that award for its finally his time to do so! i have seen him from "what's eating gilbert grapes" till now and he never fail to amaze me!
2) Pan's Labyrinth
the movie is a sorta letdown for my expectations. but maybe i expected wrongly and missed the whole point of the show. i guess if you go into the theatre knowing nuts about the whole show, then perhaps it will be a good one. well, the fairy land in the show is nothing like the one we know from disney. it was dark, sinister & violent. but maybe there's no fairy tales after all (the cynic in me speaks!), and the pan's labyrinth in the show is just an alternate reality for ... reality. ha.
and i have enough of endings where the leads die! why should they die! why should they die!
yes, leo & the little girl both die!!! why, oh why!?
bleh.
anyway im looking forward to a few more films (which hopefully live up to my expectations) this mth! i should be watching "the king" tomorrow & "babel" when it is released on 25th jan!
and anyone got any suggestions on what shows i should catch as well?
the weekend
weekend is slow and nice with hubbi. we went window shopping on both days at orchard since we were in town to catch movies. anyway, i should be getting vouchers ($500!!) from my company and i've opted $400 in the form of isetan vouchers! so did some window shopping there to select the things that im gonna grab once i got the vouchers in early feb. hehe.
really hope its in time for my CNY shopping. *fingers crossed*
trivia: we went to ding tai feng for dinner yesterday & noticed that it doesnt have an english name like crystal jade. just ding-tai-feng. lolz. very mad.
waiting for our food to be served!
i prefer crystal jade's xiao long bao though!

4D3N Penang/Phuket cruise! :)
First day
last sunday, excited hubbi & me left our home for the long awaited cruise trip! :)
so by 1pm, we were at harbourfront ready to board our ship! this was my 3rd time on board & hubbi's virgin cruise trip, heh.
and we were in awe of the interior of the ship! it was H-U-G-E & very nice!!
the main lobby
our humble shack
our room! :))
after unpacking our stuff, we headed out for lunchie! we've 3 choices on board - chinese, western & buffet. we've tried all 3 but i love the chinese restaurant the most! the food was delicious and nicely served out in dishes. ha.
the rest of the day was spent running all over the ship, doing this and that. hubbi and i managed to catch a show, played bingo (didnt win), strolled along the deck, went to the library (ha!) & had a buffet dinner (s0-s0 only). and of cos, we went to the casino!! and won ourselves $50! not too bad for a start since we managed to win-lose, win-lose and survived 2 hrs+ in the casino. hehe.
2nd day
we reached penang ard noon & we've ard 4-5 hours to spare there. but penang is really boring and nothing much to shop. still, i managed to find things to buy.... COMICS! yesh, comics!! while it costs $5 per piece here, it was only $3.50 RM there!!!! which is ard $1.6 per piece. i almost gagged. those who know me will know how much i adore comics. so i lugged back 51 (yesh, FIFTY-ONE) comics back singapore. ha.
on our way to penang on small tender boat.
we were back on board by 5pm and after a nice nap back at our cabin, we went for a movie (again). after which, we went to the deck to catch the sunset!~ sunset is always so much harder to catch than sunrise. its just too fast! luckily we manged to catch it twice this trip.
the ship reached phuket at 8am but we took our time to have breakfast, bath & relax before disembarking. cos the shops at patong beach is only opened at 11am. heh.

hubbi and i went for dinner after sunset & we spent some lovely times just lounging around the many cosy areas on board. and then.. its casino time again! ha, i swear there's a gambling bone in me somewhere. and this night, we managed to win an additional 80 bucks (all in all we've $130 winnings!). blackjack is really cool! ha.
3rd day
3rd day
finally we managed to catch the only n only sunrise for this trip today. we were about to reach phuket, and the sunrise just came up over the island. nice!
the ship reached phuket at 8am but we took our time to have breakfast, bath & relax before disembarking. cos the shops at patong beach is only opened at 11am. heh.
phuket is hot hot hot! and as we walked towards the beach, there was this ang moh auntie standing topless, looking at the group of us. i was pretty amused by her saggy boobs but those uncles/aunties behind me were quite horrified. lolz.
my first time here at phuket!
my first time here at phuket!
hubbi + me!
phuket is slightly better than penang, at least there's shopping. we managed to buy some decorations (plates, candles etc) for our home, wacoal bra/panties, accessories, cutie notebook + photo albums for me!
oh and hubbi treated me to a pedi+mani too! only 300 baht! which is ard $13 in all for both mani & pedi! ridiculously cheap! *happy*
we went back on board for dinner around 5pm & there was gala dinner that night. reservations for gala dinner was made on the 1st day and we chose the western menu for it has beef for hubbi & shitake mushrooms for me! *weeeee*
luck at the casino was kinda bad as we lost all the remaining winnings (we used part the winnings to buy stuff at phuket :)). and we walked out of the casino with nett loss of $50. i was decidedly disappointed. i have to be a lucky girl, no?
last day
the day went past in a blur. and before we know it, we were back at singapore at 7pm! how time flies.
but i would love to go on a cruise again! the feeling of doing stuff with the knowledge that you are in fact cruising along on the sea is very nice!!!
okie tata, im coming down with a cold soon and i hate it!

st james, bday celebration & cruise!
st james
went to st james (for the very first time) on friday for 2 of my colleagues farewell. was kinda excited at the thought of going that yet skeptical abt the crowd there. heard that it was normally frequented by either older/much younger people.
anyway, the night was rather fun! despite the rain (making it so darn hard to walk around finding the various entrances) & rude bouncers giving us mixed instructions/directions. st james really can do with a proper walkway AND do away with some staff of its. *bleh*
first stop was to dragonfly which was surprisingly good. the live band was entertaining & most of us had fun drinking half-priced martinis. the only thing is i didnt get to see my beloved sly (muhhaha)! we popped over to the bellini room for some jazz & swing before he came out. *double bleh*
bellini room was more conducive for chatting & my colleague bought out his impossibly small hennesey cognac & impossibly bleh to drink. n i think i may be going back there this friday ha.
@ bellini room with colleagues
bday celebration @ california kitchen pizza (or isit the other way round?)
met up with the gang for grace, zm & mine bday celebration. dinner was simple & enjoyable with just good food & funny banter between us. and as usual, i made everyone take photos with me hehehe.
grace, gb + me
zm,me +ser (yup, only dan is missing)
okie gtg eat breakfast and get ready for my cruise. i have to board ard noon will only be back on wednesday evening. so dun miss meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
p/s:all photos taken by my new phone! *nice hor?*

wedding, handphone & a birthday
attended my colleague's wedding at the Regents on saturday. its my first time there n i found the place exudes old-royal charm.
i like the decor of the ballroom (except for the huge pillars & really really dim lighting). heh.
everything for the night was fine except for the part i dropped my V3 & spoilt the display screen. :(
what bad luck i have with handphones for the past 2 years.
i lost my k750i after having it for 1 1/2 mths only. & i spoilt my V3 just after 1 year usage.
*bleh*
but its okie! i trotted down to vivo starhub yesterday and got myself a new hp!
*drums roll* *tada*!
SE K800i! (pardon the unbelievably small pix)
i love it! with its 3.2mp camera! it feels like my old k750i, only better! *grinz*
though it set me back around 400 bucks *heart pain*.
but whatever. hopefully it can last me till the end of my 2 years contract.
on 01.07.09, which is coincidentally same as ah long's bday!
yup, yesterday was hubbi's bday which means he is officially in his 30's! *gasp* lolz.
we went to his parents place for lunch & had some fun with my fav. peanut baby. after which we left for vivo for my phone and some window shopping.
i treated him a simple dinner at terra which serves some decent food at reasonable pricing.
*yummy spinach soup* ~surprisingly..

HAPPY NEW YEAR, WORLD!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, WORLD!
*warning long post ahead*
finally its year 2007. i've so many to say & update! *wee* first of all to conclude on my year 2006. definitely there were ups & downs. hopefully more ups & downs. so let's see what went on last year for me! :)
Jan: i remember starting the year not feeling v. happy. so much so that my weight plunged to 50kg during thar period. bad. it was also the peak period for me. so it was really a dark period for me. but ah long and i collected our keys then & we were rather excited about it.
Feb: time spent mainly between sourcing for contractors & work. peak period continued.. got job offer (not knowing that i will be unhappy thereafter..), so thats like the only silver lining then.
Mar: settle MORE wedding admin. spent alot of time with ex-colleagues for my farewell. & finally embarking on my 2nd job at end of month.
Apr: work was very easy being the orientation month. gleeful about everything in life. had fun planning wedding & over-seeing renovation with ah long.
May: hell broke loose at work. hated my boss & totally regretted changing job. worse, ah long was away at paris for work for 2 weeks. never felt more alone & depressed. renovation at full speed, targetting to finish by early june.
jun: wedding PS done. excited about outcome. moved into new house in mid-month. world cup started! i was really v v v happy then though the late nights almost but killed me. TOTTI/ITALY rocks!
july: happy month for me. world cup is in full swing & italy went on to clinch the title. i couldnt be anymore happier despite this has absolutely nothing to do with me, with me being a non-italian & not betting any $ on the final match. but i was grinning for a good month. :)
alot of house warming in this month. had fun with friends.
aug: the good mood continued. my boss backed off with her silly demands. working life sorta stabilized. booked both my HK & honeymoon trips. settled almost all wedding admin. started to have jitters for upcoming wedding.
sept: MY WEDDING on 25th sept! the whole event went smoothly & i remember feeling v happy, blessed & loved that day. went for a shot 4D3N HK trip right after that. lovely shopping trip. heh.
oct: off to my honeymoon for nearly 3 weeks. :) turkey was really lovely & greece islands was an awesome experience though the cold was biting my bones towards the end of the trip. fancy zero degrees at athens! we were just hopping from shops to shops to bear the cold! ha.
nov: busy settling alot of admin, esp. developing pixs & collecting photos, as well as round up all the necessary purchases for the house. we only bought our dining table then! generally in an upbeat mood despite being busy.
dec: the only good thing about last month was i went on a shopping spree & bought some lovely stuff. the best item got to be the watch that hubbi helped to subsidize. on my own, i bought 3 pair of shoes, i skirt from isetan, 2 tops from zara & 2 necklace (from topshop/aldo). sounded kinda mad but i feel really happy with all these!
the bad thing is i started to get depressed again. hubbi has tried to convince me that my problem is not so bad & we are really lucky than most people out there. that i agreed & ive tried to talk myself out of my depressed state by getting lost in the daily routine madness & telling myself i'm really more fortunate than a lot of people in terms of everything. and thats the most important, yes?
so the above kinda sums up my 2006. definitely more ups than downs, huh? i truly hope so! off to year 2007!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
though i started 2007 in an ambiguous mood. i hope it can extend itself to a happy & fulfilling one!
let's start with my new year resolutions!
1) stay healthy!
-drink more water. i said the same thing for the past 2 years. think the pratice rate hovers around 30%? defintely not a good success rate. let's hope i can drink at least 3litres of water EVRYDAY in this coming year.
-exercise more regularly. this is hard. i dun like jogging & think swimming is cumbersome. i dun feel like spending on a gym membership cos my laziness made it hard for me to fully utilize it. i want a striddle machine but hubbi was saying too ex & no space in our house. so how?!
i got to figure out some way soon. :P
2) save MONEY!
my personal savings has finally managed to grow itself to a (low) 4-digit figure finally. i've got to keep it going till it hit 5-digit! dun be surprised, i did a small survey with my peers & most of them have 5-digit savings! so my aim is to save at least 30% of my take-home pay every month. it seems feasible so let's hope it really is!
3) travel more! (despite my pathetic 18 days leave)
starting with my 4D3N phuket/penang cruise next sunday! *grinz* i've never been to both penang & phuket. though we have only 1 day each at these 2 places, i think that should suffice. i can only foresee us going back to phuket next time round if we really like that place.
i hope to travel to europe with hubbi this coming apr/may. considering either eastern europe (czech, austria etc), west europe (spain, portugal, france) or central europe (germany, belgium, france, switzerland).
i really feel like going to tokyo & hokkaido around sept/oct. its been a good 5 years since i last went tokyo. im sure alot of things have changed & many sworned by the beautiful scenery in hokkaido, be it lavender/sunflower. i really want to see that! but think the season is during june/july. hmm, got to work around that too.
year-end will be a good time to go for a short trip like HK/bangkok. hehe. it HAS to be a shopping trip! but i doubt hubbi will want that. so i might have to find girlfriends to do this! :) which is a better idea!
think hubbi will faint if he's aware of my travel plans. but we will work something out im sure. :) he did promised me both long & short-distanced travel trips every year anyway.
4) last but not least. to stay happy & remind myself to be contended & push away dark, negative thoughts. 人生苦短,何必再自寻烦恼?
may be hard to achieve this but one should always try.
VITA BREVIS, dear all!

the last few days
were relaxing for me. it was just rest & lazing around which is pretty good for me. i need rest!
friday was just dinner with hubbi @ tiong bahru. we were supposed to go vivo/great world/robinson but all plans were abandoned when he got wind of my purchase of 2 tops in the afternoon. im not supposed to go places with sales, lest i shop AGAIN. *oopsie*
had fun playing RPG game with him at night. im really hooked onto this whole baldur gate thingy. its fun to see my character gaining levels & getting more equipped with her armour class & having more magic spells to play around with. *yay*
i always knew i've a boy in me somewhere ever since young. from how i enjoy playing rugby with my cousins, to how i buy into certain gaming & till now, getting interested in watches alike.
sidetrack, speaking of watches, ive fallen in love with a Longines model. a man model to be precise, but i dun really care for i've no problem with wearing a guy's watch except that the dial size may be a tab big for my wrist. but whatever.
the piece is quite a pretty gem with moon phase (im very into moon phase now which is a relatively redundant complication for a watch), blue-steel hands, leather straps, white dial (pretty!) & square face. it costs around $3.5k after discount. i wonder when i will really be getting it. for 1) its barely a month since my recent omega purchase. 2) $3.5k can get me a LV bag & a gucci wallet & some clothes! im so torn! haha, okie the above is the materialistic me speaking. the inner-me still belives that health & happiness is everything at the end of the day. :b
housewarming at GS's house on sat. her house is huge!!! its an exec flat & i just want to run round n round her master bedroom. heh. space is both a luxury & chore i guess. i would love to have more space like her to add a sofa in the bedroom or get a walk-in wardrobe done but the cleaning will kill me. not that, but more like hubbi's nagging to clean our house.
i hate cleaning up! we are seriously contemplating to get an ah-sum to clean our house every fornightly. n since normal sweeping is done by hubbi, that will left me with washing clothes (via the washing machine) only! *muhahahahah* let's hope we can get one soon!
after which i went to vivo to meet hubbi & his parents for dinner. i DIDNT manage to buy anything this time round, much to the relief for both of us.
sun is my birthday!! im freaking 25 years old. how do one deal with being in the mid-twenties? im definitely not taking this whole thing well. gimme back my youth (an irony since im in my youth now)! it must be hard on hubbi who is stepping into his thirties this year. *hiaks* evil me at work again.
hubbi & me ready to get out the house
spent the quietest birthday ever. mainly cos not exactly in the most upbeat/positive mood this week & having an issue with getting old. spent the morning playing game & went back to my parents' house in the noon. got an angbao from mum. :) made me feel young again. :))
i will always remain a kid to them, i guess.
hubbi & i made our way to parkway parade n spent a lovely evening there. we had my favourite (tom yam) steamboat & durian ice-cream there. i appreciated him willing to spend time queuing up & eating the real spicy steamboat with me. he ate till he had runny nose at one point of time. i just laughed at him. ha.
we went ikea for some shopping yesterday & i actually made chocolate chip cookies! yes, me!! i made cookies & they turn out fine! hubbi really like them and it made my heart went all warm. *grinz*
all ready for the oven!
baking in the oven!
:) turkey was really lovely & greece islands was an awesome experience though the cold was biting my bones towards the end of the trip. fancy zero degrees at athens! we were just hopping from shops to shops to bear the cold! ha.
nov: busy settling alot of admin, esp. developing pixs & collecting photos, as well as round up all the necessary purchases for the house. we only bought our dining table then! generally in an upbeat mood despite being busy.
dec: the only good thing about last month was i went on a shopping spree & bought some lovely stuff. the best item got to be the watch that hubbi helped to subsidize. on my own, i bought 3 pair of shoes, i skirt from isetan, 2 tops from zara & 2 necklace (from topshop/aldo). sounded kinda mad but i feel really happy with all these!
the bad thing is i started to get depressed again. hubbi has tried to convince me that my problem is not so bad & we are really lucky than most people out there. that i agreed & ive tried to talk myself out of my depressed state by getting lost in the daily routine madness & telling myself i'm really more fortunate than a lot of people in terms of everything. and thats the most important, yes?
so the above kinda sums up my 2006. definitely more ups than downs, huh? i truly hope so! off to year 2007!

though i started 2007 in an ambiguous mood. i hope it can extend itself to a happy & fulfilling one!
let's start with my new year resolutions!
