good friday long weekend - part 1

wah..its finally the long-awaited weekend.
mammy has been waiting for this long weekend for the longest time! she has planned a whole day of activities just for the ng family. LOL.
we woke up bright and early and mummy busied herself preparing the things to bring out later, bathed me and of cos fed me yummy brekkie.

waiting gleefully for my breakfast!

breakfast was instant organic oats with sliced strawberries! but secretly i found the oats abit bland..

nowadays im very cheeky. mummy asked me to pose and this was what she get.
so guess where we went on friday?!
we went to .... SENTOSA! it was my 1st time there and i was simply delighted to be there! :)

awaiting for the tram to come!

mammy was very pleased to see a new tram design which is very baby friendly.
me? i was very happy to see the scenery as the tram brought us around.

mummy has decided to bring me to underwater world, thinking i should be able to appreciate fishes at my age now.
zoo will have to wait for mummy is afraid that i'll get frightened by the animals there.
which is not without basis FOR i was afraid of some of the big fishes in the underwater world.

hot weather! hence the cap.

think mummy and pappy enjoyed the place more than me. i just want to run amok the place.
especially on the conveyor belt at the underwater aquarium.

happy on the belt. pappy as usual busy sms-ing behind. got alot of friends meh? keke.

we were out in less than 2 hours. hehe. mummy think its good enough given for me.

trying on stuff in the souvenir shop

yay, interesting place. thumbs up!

after which, mummy wanted to bring me to play with some sand but she saw someting better along palawan beach!
its water playground!
so ended up mummy and me played with water for sometime.
its a bad choice afterall for the place is very sandy and children were running and splashing water all around.
not good for unprepared mummy. good thing was the sun is hot and her clothes dry up pretty soon.

me playing with water. scarey pappy behind me, afraid of water.

having fun scooping water into the pail

mummy and pappy got me out of the water, dressed me up with difficulty and we went for our late lunch.
after that, super duper tired me napped for nearly 2 hours in my pram while mummy and pappy relaxed at coffee bean, reading newspapers and chatting. :)

wakey up from my nap. energized and reading sentosa map for next attraction.

of cos not! we were leaving for vivo liao. mummy needed some air-con!
after some window-shopping and mummy, upon seeing that the rain has stopped, decided to gve me another go at playing water! *wee*

mummy likes vivo more. more space, shallow water and cleaner.

im a happy baby!

it was definitely a fun, long but tiring day for me! i was knocked out by 830pm till the next day 8am. ahaha.
mummy and pappy? no better, they were asleep shortly after me.
i wonder when will i visit sentosa again?

where the money is.

of all the places in south france that we went for this trip, monaco rocks!
its really one of the smallest countries in the world. but what a country!
totally for the rich. it boosts one of the highest GDP per capita in the whole world, if you do not know.

ok, the place was efficient and organised. reeking of safety.
we went to the jardin exotique which is basically a garden with exotic plants.
mainly alot of cactuses. heh.
i enjoyed this place a lot for its on the side of the cliff.
so we got to see most part of monaco at bottom of our feet when cruising downwards in it.

steep walk down and up. *puff*

monaco in the background!

there were some observatory caves in this garden too.
over 1000+years, rainwater seeped through the mountain and carried some properties from the soil on top (= rich in CO2) and formed these caves (=melting them out).

like wax, hor?

we walked about 60m deep into the caves to see the inside. abt 300+ steps up and down!
half the time, im scared the caves will caved in! scaredy cat me!
this is the 3rd time im so underground, apart from being in the underground city in capadoccia & salt mine in karkow.
i think i dont like it. :(

and of cos, need to go see see the monte carlo casino lah. hehe.
very grand-looking though its so much smaller than what i thought.

it has this interesting fountain display in front of it that captures the whole reflection of the casino. nice.

at the back of casino

along the street

bird eye view of monaco

monaco is really a great place to visit. though making our way there made my ear popped alot!
too high up in the mountain lah.

turning the pages

me got lost in the world of words ever since i came back from the trip.
seeing the pile of books sitting (dustily) on my baybench has become too much.
hubbi has been nagging me to put away them to minimise the clutter at home.
but putting away unread books sounded so wrong!

so i picked up one last week, and i've never look back. hiaks.
i used every spare time to read and believe me this is scarce when you've a toddler.
so walking to/from office from/to mrt, i read.
the last hour before my eyes turn heavy, i read.
solo lunches at times, i read.
my, im really the most extroverted introvert!
i do relish such me-time VERY much.

i started with the graveyard book first. i needed easy language to gear me up.
and it was better than my expectations. the flow is good, the pace is fast.
im starting to get convinced that neil gaiman is one hell of a writer.
graveyard book is just like the jungle book except the setting is a graveyard.
gaiman lured you into a world where reality and fantasy blend seamlessly.
in all, i enjoyed this book tons cos its really a children's book with adult themes.
totally for me. :)
sadly, the adventure was over in a few days though.

then, its revolutionary road by richard yates. now i understand why kate winslet mentioned that he is one awesome author for he IS.
maybe a mistake to read this before watching the show. as i've always preferred the book to movie tie-ins.
anyway, i finished this as well. and its a sobering book.
discontentment and disillusion almost always lead to destruction and tragedy.
now my heart is heavy from the book.

going to start reading wicked. it's premise sounded really promising!
the untold story of the land of oz. entirely from the viewpoint of the wicked witch of the east!
how wicked!
okie, time is precious. bye!

cannes or antibes? antibes of cos!

thought cannes is a must for south france. thought wrong.
in the end the only thing that intrigued me is the train station nia.

highlight of cannes will be the Palais des Festivals where stars so bright they burn gather every may of the year.
but it was march. so nothing but a lonely place.
still, we had fun superimposing ourselves as different characters there. hehe.

facing the wrong direction. han solo with sprained neck

weekend market at cannes

we stayed only but 2 hrs+ in cannes and even that is too much for us.
so we left for antibes to meet kian neng for more sightseeing!

antibes was not on our list too in the 1st place. but im really glad we made it there.
boosting no famous attractions, what antibes has to offer is really neat views of the mediterranean sea, typical setting of a south france city and of cos, good food like everywhere else.

antibes is a place for the rich. look at all the private yatches behind us!

typical south france housing.

we particularly enjoyed our walk from old town of antibes all the way to near Le Cap d'Antibes , which means the most southern part of antibes looking out to the vast gorgeous mediterranean sea!

thats the old town in the background

me & kian neng. he's not fictitious! hehe.

okie! onwards to Monaco!

the quirky, interesting, funny & not-so-funny - part 1

most of us should really do this.

street directory of St paul de vence. yes, the whole place only has this no. of shops!

this again illustrated to me that im just not cut out to appreciate modern art.
CY Twombly, anyone?

stand-alone boutiques in south france is quite rare. instead, they have such shops with an array of brands.

interesting straw dispensers in Mac. rotate and a new straw will pop out.

weird looking trolley in avignon's carrefour. but surprisingly easy to push around.

this is everywhere! you cant get it in convenience stores?

you can find love anywhere! :)

antibes - rabbit & chicken stew on sale. nope, im not kidding.

parking space is atrocious in nice! look at how kian neng managed to squeeze into this lot!
he did 4-5 times before managing to park!
see, how close! its amazing he managed to drive out too. ha.
and the front? equally close to the next car lor.
the silly guy still grinning happily for his achievement! ha.

no talking on TGV train, pls.
