my 1st encounter with mickey rourke was the movie "sin city".
i was curious who was the actor behind the gentle giant in the show.
so i went to search for his photos and was shocked to see the real person not very different from the character in the show.
and then he disappeared and out of my mind too.
saw him again in "the wrestler" yesterday and finally understood why sooo many critics have given the little golden man for his acting chops in the show.
he was simply the character.
when i saw him now, i saw randy ram.
the show aint an easy one to watch, almost painful.
how can someone lead such a life. yet, we know many do out there.
rourke really made me feel for his character.
the regret, the despair, the hopeful, the realisation.
he tried to change for the better, god knows how hard he tried.
but as he told his daughter in the end, he cant change.
i left the cinema with the heaviest heart.
and the husband felt kena cheated by my choice of movie once again.
i think we both need a healthy does of "slumdog millionaire".
soon. :)
