yakitori @ kamado and tony stark

hubbi and i took leave today to go on a date! :)
the programme was planned by the husband - just a simple lunch and movie.
he took me to try this new restaurant @ 313 - kamado which serves yakitori food mainly.

me with my lunch & hubbi with the green tea cheese cake to satisfy his sweet tooth. tsk.

after lunch, its shopping time for us!
been so long since the two of us managed to (window)shop without the kids.
again, i succumbed to temptation and get something from zara as well as 2 bras from triumph. the husband once again ended up with nothing. what's new, really.

and then its time to catch the blockbuster - iron man 2!
yippee! tony stark/RDJ has been missed!
and together with a few rare sequels, this show is as good as the first one. :)
RDJ seems to be older here but still! his lushful lower lashes!
never fail to impress me. heh.
the same humor is there and the banter between pepper potts and stark is such a delight and endearing to watch. :)
he is indeed my fav. red and golden superhero!

the show really made my day. :)

irritating husband, gullible son.

for the past few days, i've been settling yr to sleep while hubbi takes on the task for the elder son.
as the bedtime for the 2 sons is very close, i cant be with them both at the same time.
:(

and both of them much prefer me to settle them as compared to pappy.
as yr is younger, i normally take on the role of settling him more so than the husband in the hope that there will be less crying and he gets settled to sleep fast.

sometimes, i manged to settle yr in less than 20mins time.
then, i will listen outside the other room to assess if hubbi is already preparing yz to sleep.
if i hear activities going on, i will go in and take over the task of settling yz as well.
haha, like a 红歌星跑歌台!
but there are times when hubbi has dimmed the light and is getting yz to sleep liao.
i will have to stay out of the room and move on to do other things while waiting for hubbi to come out of the room later when yz sleeps.

anyway, these few nights i didnt manage to settle both kids as hubbi has dimmed the light most of the time when i've finished settling yr.
according to him, yz will always ask for me without fail each time.
"妈咪嘞?我要妈咪陪我睡。"
THEN, the clever husband will always reply the same thing as well:
"妈咪在大便, 快点睡。"
and the son will believe him wholeheartedly and goes to sleep thinking his mummy is really busy taking a dump.
@_@

sigh.

and the husband still think he's very clever for this.
so irritating!

finally a quiet moment on a sunday afternoon

managed to catch the boy's timings and put them to sleep at the same time all by myself!
now the two terrors are napping on our bed.
i hope they wont wet the bed! :P

a cute sight, huh?

yr's temper has improved slightly over the weeks.
though a slight delay of his milk feed or failing to pat him back to sleep fast enough when he stirs from his sleep can still warrant a full-lung wail/scream from him at times.
as i told my mum, yr is a 大笑大哭的 baby. haha.
compared to gor gor, he is definitely more difficult. but he is also a much more responsive baby who loves a good laugh anytime!
he is very vocal and can coo at us non-stop when he's in the mood.

and he sure can chuckle out loud. yz was more of an observer when he was younger.

my 3m1w bundle of joy. :)

my fav. hobby, apart from movies and reading.

i have been shopping again.
and its not even GSS yet. tsk tsk.
hubbi is driving our car for this month. which means i have to go to his workplace to meet him after work.
this is bad. for 313 is just at somerset mrt!
anyway, i kinda like this new brand - dressy as recommended by candice.
some nice designs if you bother to look closer and pricing is reasonable too.
brought a working skirt and top from there when waiting for the husband to knock off.

oh and i brought a crabtree & evelyn set which is a steal.
it consists of a bath/shower gel, body lotion, hand therapy and gloves.
items brought separately come up to around $100 but crabtree is selling limited sets now at $78.
BUT with a mailer they sent you, you can get it @ $58 only!
stupid hubbi threw away my mailer by mistake. luckily my coll managed to pass hers to me. :)
time to pamper my aging hands. hiaks.

went ion for lunch one day and went sephora.
got myself the triple oxygen facial mask from bliss. been wanting to get this item for the longest time. :)
bye bye to dull tired skin.. i hope!

metro sale this weekend. bad.
went there with hubbi and yr and brought an assortment of things that i (do not) need. @_@
read from reviews that ettusais mascara is good so brought one to try. got their facial cleanser to try since mine has finished too.
my skin feel kinda tight after washing. :(
considering to change to chanel cleanser. depending if hubbi want to finish the ettusais one for me. :P
i dont like to waste stuff but this cleanser seems to be too drying for me. :(

did house-springing for my shoes before i went back to work previously and threw out around 5-6 pairs of old shoes.
realised i've only a few pairs of flats left.
hence, got myself a new pair today from nine west. its silver and pretty. ha.

brought OPI for the first time to try since its going at 20%+10% off!
a bit thick and not fast drying as some brands. but i like the color that ive gotten.

pretty hard to get this color in matt. too much glittery nail color out there.

i think i better stop buying stuff till GSS is here.
*fingers and toes crossed tightly*

bedrock + magic garden

its friday and im on half-day leave today.
so im in a sibei good mood in the morning despite having a lousy night tending to fussy yr. :)

taken in the lift in the morning.
bad idea. our eyes were tiny!
but i like yz here, he looked babyish!

morning was over in a flash.
and its time to meet the husband for lunchie! *wee*
im treating him lunch at Bedrock located at Pan pacific suites!
they have a lunch promo going on this week going at just S$35++ per pax.
a good way to try their steak given their ala-carte prices are exorbitant.
their steak alone costs around $60-80++! *gasp*

set lunch comprises of a drink, bread, soup, main course + desserts.
im super impressed with their bread that comes with the soup.
yes! the bread is freshly baked (super soft) and accompanying it are butter and cooked soft garlic still in their cloves!
so we digged the garlic from its clove and spreaded it onto the soft bread with the butter. yummy!
i had tomato soup while hubbi had leek with potato soup.
both are quite tasty.

me with the main course. yah, super dim lighting. ha.

both of us ordered steaks and we were recommended to have them as medium.
actually to my disappointment, i dont find the steak living up to my expectations.
they are good but just not that good. abit tough if you ask me.
the best steak i had is still the one at au petit salut at dempsey.

hubbi with his desserts - warm choco cake + ice cream

ok, got to give their desserts credit.
the warm choco cake is really good and the ice cream (i cant decipher the flavor) was delicious!
though the husband thinks it was too "jelat" for him.
but not so for my sweet chocolate tooth! haha.

after lunch, hubbi went back to work while i made my way to the childcare to look for yz.
his childcare was having an excursion - to esplanade to watch a performance meant for kids!
and 1 parent was allowed to escort the kid there, so here we go!
together with other kids and parents, yz and i boarded the shuttle bus for the excursion.

us on bus!

we reached esplanade at around 340pm and before long, we were ushered into the recital studio for the performance starting at 4pm.
it was a short performance (almost an hour) titled "magic garden" suitable for kids between 2-4 yo.
yz was not as spontaneous as some of the ang moh kids inside but can see that he was paying attention to the actors as they were role-playing as different animals like mouse, butterfly etc and also joining in with the sing-along sessions as well as following the hand actions advocated by the actors. oh, and he laughed out loud at some of the parts too.
can say that it was a good session for him. perhaps its time to expose him to more of such performances?
as part of the package, all who attended the performance were entitled to purchase 2 marshmallows dipped in chocolate from Chocz at only $1.
hiaks. a treat for the son.

see, so happy with his sweet.

all in all, this is a good friday spent.
all fridays should be like this!

random updates in ecookie's life

1) was on leave yesterday, so decided to go jogging on a whim.
hubbi dropped me at the henderson park on his way to work.
managed 2 miserable laps (that is ard. 1.3km if you are interested) before a stitch by my side stopped the whole gung-ho exercise.
slow-walked back to my house as part of a cooling down procedure (the park is around 2 bus-stops from my house if you are interested again).
but alas, my seldom-see-the-sunlight sportshoes disintegrated during the walk back.
1st the left sole of the shoe started flapping then came off altogether. so i threw it away.
then the same happened to the right one. @_@
i own zero pair of sportshoes now.

2) yz is a big boy liao!
we've upgraded him to booster seat last week.
though he is still short of the min. weight requirement of 15kg (he's 14.4kg now), he fits in nicely because of his height.
decided to get him a graco junior booster seat with backing after some screening at robinson.
was about to buy it over the weekend when luck has it that hubbi's colleague needs to make a trip down to graco's warehouse on thursday.
his colleague has gotten a hand-me-down playpen from his sis and needed to get a replacement for one of the spare part.
so he said he will help us to look out for our booster seat and help us get it if it's cheaper.
and he did!
he got it for us at $99 when it's retailing at $139. :)

3) caught shutter island yesterday.
the movie is good! kinda mind-f***ed you as you follow the main lead (oh leo!!) in his investigations on the island.
this might just be leo's best performance to date! for the longest time, im not so sure about the partnership between martin scorsese and dicaprio.
somehow, he cant seem to bring out the potential in dicaprio the way he did for de niro (to be fair, aviator is surprisingly good).
but this time round, shutter island nailed it.
a good psychological thriller, not unlike cape fear. and leo! (i cant stress enough) acted darn well in it.

4) bought 2 books today.
shutter island by Dennis Lehane & What the dog saw by malcolm gladwell.
i've a good feeling they'll be good. good.

5) going to watch Monga tonight.
RJT! *swoon*

weight updates #3

it's 3 months since delivery and i've also went back to work.
current weight stands at 57kg, a good 4kg from pre-preggy weight.
i can fit back into most of my old clothings (albeit a snug fit. @_@) with the exceptions of a few tight-fitting one.
some of these are my fav. clothings and it saddens me to have to continue waiting for the fats to melt before i can wear them again. :(
oh well. i guess just have to continue waiting.
meantime, continue shopping for loose clothings. wahaha.

i sure hope i can lose the remaining kilos over the next half year.
wish me luck + of cos high metabolism rate as usual.

jabs - OUCH!

my lil' peanut turns 3mths old tomorrow!
brough him to the PD for his monthly vaccines and review this morning.
yz followed as well as he is due for 1 more jab too!

yz was to take 2-in-1 booster jab for MMR & chicken pox.
once the needle poke through his right thigh skin, the crying started and big fat tears rolled down his cheeks.
poor boy. he was much easily distracted when taking the jabs last time.
no wonder jabs are best taken when they are still babies.
luckily, the biscuit offered by the PD after the jab did the trick.
he was back to his cheerful self after that.
yz weighs 14.4kg and is 95cm tall coming 2.5yo.

next, its didi's turn.
this time was the prenavar jab which was said to be painful.
either that or peanut's pain threshold is low.
the screaming started once the needle pierced through his skin and big fat tears rolled down the cheeks just like gor gor.
haha. those outside the room must be puzzled by the 2 sets of cryings. :P
for yr, pacifier and some cradling did the trick.
yr weighs 7.3kg and is 65cm tall (as compared to yz's 7kg and 66cm tall back then).

to yr: you have proved to be a more difficult and fiercer baby as compared to your gor gor.
if you are mummy's first born, i may have considered stopping at one! :P
the past few week have been a whirlwind for all of us who are your main caretakers.
we have been trying to decipher your temprement and go with your flow to minimise the crying and the screaming.
mummy has been saddened and depressed at times when you proved to be too much of a handful for me to handle.
but still, you are such a beautiful and precious baby of mine.
especially so when you are fast asleep with your curly long lashes on your angelic face.
mummy will try to be strong and try my best to accomodate you.
give you my love, patience and time as best as i can.
both gor gor and you are really my baobeis.
though now may be a tough period for all of us, im sure we can brave through the storms and emerge to a better future feeling blissful.

quoting from one of my fav. movie:
for i believe the night is darkest before the dawn. but the dawn always come.

movies i want to catch...

be it on big screen or dvd releases.
be it with hubbi, friends or myself.

1) monga
2) shutter island
3) date night
4) greenberg
5) iron man 2

this should be enough for the month.

i have a siao husband

this month is bonus month! :)
frankly speaking, my company's bonus payout is not fantastic.
so i've decided not to spend on any big-ticket items but rather save up the bulk of it.
of cos, the usual dinner treats to my parents and hubbi will stay.
and some new clothings and toys for the sons wont hurt i guess.
for meself, every month is already bonus month given the way i spend. yucks.
as for the husband? i decided to be stingy since i've already treated us to the staycation and there is an upcoming good treat for him too.

but the man is in denial.

yr was at my mum's place yesterday so we went to waraku @ starhub centre for dinner before adjourning to robinson @ centrepoint.
bought a playdoh set for yz and he was soo happy! :)
hubbi then kept pestering me to get him a lego set (those starwars battleship set or similar and definitely not cheap) since i've my bonus.
i told him im not going to get him anything but he can choose a set and i will pay since yz can get to play with the set as well.
upon second thoughts, he said he didnt want already. but he will think of what he want and let me know.
so i told him again. no need think, im not getting anything for you.
but he pretended not to hear.

back at home before sleeping, he asked me what should i get for him.
siao! i repeated to him, "im not getting anything for you!".
he pretended to give me a pained look then continued to ramble on "how about a new clothing, how about a gadget blah blah."
siao!

then when i was trying to settle yz to sleep, he still popped in and said, "i dont want t-shirt ok!".
siao!
i told him, im not getting anything for you! anyway, i just got you an uniqlo tee so wont be getting another piece for you so fast.
then mins later, he shouted from the living room, " let me know what you are getting for me ok! i dont want surprises. no surprise ok!".
you tell me, siao anot this husband.

he really thinks i love him alot leh. hahaha.
so irritating.
now dont give him anything like so mean.
give him anything also no fun liao given the way he has "prepared" himself.
madness.

a single man (spoilers ahead!) and oops i did it again.

deposited yr at my mum's place yesterday for a last burst of me-time before going back to work next monday.
decided to watch "a single man" as the trailer intrigued me to no end.
oh, and the fact that its a debut directorial effort by tom ford!

"a single man" is based on a same-titled novel by Christopher Isherwood.
the movie leads us through a day of a homosexual man (colin firth) who is still grieving for his long-time partner who died in a car accident 8 mths back in the 1960s setting.
through flashbacks and unassuming events of the day, we get acquited with his profession (an english professor), his background (a brit who relocated from london to los angeles), his best friend (charlie acted wonderfully by julianna moore) and his goal for the day (to commit suicide with an old revolver in his possession).

the movie is top-notch is so many areas.
first the cinematography and the costume design of the cast. what to expect from tom ford but the most impeccable clothings donned by the characters and every scene looks cut out from some stylish coffee table book.
lol. it is that good.i wonder if all 60s women were that good with eyeliners and gosh, the amount of time spent on making up the face and coiffing of those hair!

next the plot. im not sure how good is the novel and i think i should be getting it real soon.
if its as good or better than the show, then the book will be a good classic one for english literature!
it explores so well the various themes of friendship, solitude, love, death etc.
i love how the story unfolds.
so george (firth the protagonist) met an assortment of characters during the day ranging from the picture perfect neighbour to the bordering on obsessive gorgeous boy student.
and the film kept you wondering what the final outcome will be.
will he or will he not go ahead with the suicide act?!

finally the acting.
firth was fantabulous as george. now that i've seen almost all the shows starring the leading actor nominees (with the exception of invictus only), i feel that firth truly deserves the little golden man.
to see the naunces of different feelings dancing across his face is such a delight.
before this show, i was never the greatest fan of firth.
my impression of him was still stuck at mark darcy in bridget jones's diary.
but now, im in awe. such a good actor.
speaking of that, where the hell is edward norton my fav. actor!!

anyway, what a shitload of comments for a single man.
but its really the best movie for me (year-to-date at least)!

so, after the show decided to go to 313 to get some tights from uniqlo before waiting for the husband to off work.
bad move.
ended up buying a dress from gg5 and uniqlo t-shirts for hubbi, myself and yz on top of the tights that i originally wanted. @_@
so much about exercising restraint on my shopping sprees.
i really must try harder. at least till my next pay cheque. :P

Friday, April 09, 2010

finally had enough of being cooped up at home all day with the baby, i decided to bring baby out for shopping!
after yr's feed at 1pm, we set off via mrt to vivo city! *wee*
hb was a lil' apprehensive with me going out alone with yr, but me? i've tons of confidence hiaks.
wat a great difference compared to last time.
my first outing out with yz alone was when he was nearly 4m old and its to the hawker near our place only. really siao as i think back now.

yr is really cool being in a pram. in fact, with the help of his smelly beanie and pacifier, he managed to spend most of the time in the pram alternating between looking around with wonder and sleeping. :)
upon reaching, i had lunch at soup spoon while reading the latest mag as yr slept on.
ahh.. wat gorgeous me-time.

after that, its shopping!! and there is no sale everywhere.
so saddening.
i've a good few hours before the husband can reach with yz. and thats bad.
in the end, i bought:
1) 2 tops from gg5
2) 1 skirt from zara
3) 1 pants from mango
4) 4 undies from topshop
@_@
i really need to lie low for the next couple of weeks!
i dont print money, have to remind myself from time to time.

finally, hubbi and yz reached and we went to bakerzin for dinner.
im in love with their pumpkin soup and their kids menu is really decent!
and their desserts are just for the husband! i ordered coupe cheesecake for him haha.
it was really delicious *slurp*

then, its home sweet home and again the mad rush to settle the 2 kids and packing of stuff.
cant imagine when i go back to work next week.
think my mornings and evenings will be more rushed than now. *gulp*

staycation @ sentosa - Part 2

yz wakey up bright & early at 7+ like when he's at home.
sigh. there is really no differentiating between weekdays or weekends when you have kids. *yawn*
went for the buffet breakfast soon after waking up.
i find the food really not bad. esp the choco croissant which is really soft and tasty!

yz helping himself to the spread

likewise for the squirrel.

after brekkie, its time to hit the pool!
SBR (siloso beach resort)'s pool is really nice and big.
with a mini man-made waterfall and slides for the kids too! :)

happy yz

with papa

taking the slide with the son!

a very lousy shot by the husband.  somehow he didnt manage to take any shot when we were sliding down.
despite using a high shutter speed camera.

after a good wash-up, its time for us to bide farewell to SBR!
wat a great short staycation for the ng family (minus the younger son)!

a still very happy yz even after reaching home

staycation @ sentosa - Part 1

poor me is returning to work in a week time. gosh.
hence, decided to spend some quality time with yz before that.
treated the husband and the elder son to a 2D1N escapade to sentosa on monday!

we dropped off the elder son at childcare and the younger one at my mum's place in the morning.
yesh, check-in is not until 3pm so hubbi and i decided to spend some quiet couple time first.
after that, its "clash of the titans" and lunch at cineleisure orchard.
had tried to persuade the husband to watch "a single man" instead but he has flatly refused. bleh.
anyway, jm has commented that "clash" is a let-down so i've adjusted my expectations before watching it.
and true to her words, its really a so-so film.
though sam worthington is HOT. heh.

after the show was a mad dash to the cc to pick up the son and onwards to sentosa!

we were staying at siloso beach resort hotel!

hubbi and yz waiting at the lobby for me to do the check-in

i've actually booked a superior room which was situated on the 2nd/3rd floor.
due to the low occupancy rate, we were being upgraded to deluxe room on the 5th floor. *yippee*
actually not much difference, just that its bigger, has a bathtub, same floor with the pool ( good) and sorta better view.

us in the room!

yz was so glad to be staying in a hotel once again! he didnt forget his last stay at changi village hotel! :)

us pretending its just us two while the son went roaming around the room. ha.

after unpacking some stuff and changing yz from his cc's uniforms, we were good to go!

off to find some food for teabreak!

settled at one of the snackbars along siloso beach.
hubbi ordered pizza and coke. the perfect indulgence food for a lazy afternoon. :)

waiting for our order

yz was very happy with the arrival of food. :)

with full bellies, we were ready to take the sentosa express to resort world!

took photo with oscar along the way. too bad we didnt manage to catch "song of the sea" this time round.
never mind, there will be another time im sure!

@ beach station waiting for the train

resort world is sort of a let-down to us.
1stly, we cant enter the casino with yz around. even without him, hubbi and i are not sure if we are willing to fork out $100 each.
and it seems like 9 shops out of 10 at festive walk are still closed. @_@
given the timing we were over there, it does not make sense for us to go into universal studios which closed at 6pm sharp on weekdays.
so we were kinda bored there.

but i do like the feeling rw gives me - feels like overseas!

the "standard" shot to take

we decided to take the express train out of sentosa for dinner at vivo.
haha. i guess we cant be too far from the city for too long. :P
dinner was at sushi tei and after that we decided to treat the son to yummy ben & jerry's ice cream to make the excursion better.

concentrating real hard on getting the right amount on his spoon

we took the island tram to get back to the hotel from the train station as yz requested for it.
he can still remember taking a similar ride at the zoo few weeks back.
pretty amazed with his memory. :)

looking intensely at where we were heading.

i esp. love seeing the son getting cozy on the hotel bed!

we let yz decide when his bedtime should be.
but he was pretty tired out by the day's activities and K.O.ed himself out by 9+pm. tsk.
hubbi and i enjoyed watching movies on HBO and feasting on chips after that.
shiok!

seal

yz said this is a seal and not sealion.
why? because seal has many legs.

(note, the lines are supposed to be the "many legs".)
*scratch head* since when i taught him that seal has many legs?
still, mummy is very proud that the son has drawn the above on his own. :)

Friday, April 02, 2010

good friday is good indeed!

its public holiday today!
so i "arrowed" hb to take care of peanut at home with the help of the in-laws. muhaha.
bo bian, i need to get things done and to fetch the elder son from my mum's place too.

first thing first, im due for a haircut!
was undecided if i should go for soft-straightening as i wish to grow my hair abit longer.
my hair has all the curvy-wurvy kinks to it that its always a messy/untidy affair during the growing period.
then, hubbi surprised me by saying he will sponsor me for the whole thing. :)
yippee. and that sealed the deal.
made an appointment and went down to icon by shunji matsuo at wisma during noon.
in the end, haircut+soft straightening+treatment comes up to $300+. @_@
even though its paid by the husband, im feeling the heartpain.
i can buy so much clothings with the money. sigh.
and worse, mum said i look pretty much the same. pui.
not the same lah! fringe shorter, hair straighter and softer leh! *self-denial*

moi with the new hair. not entirely straight. can see how stubborn my curly wurvy hair is!!

went shopping for awhile at wisma after that.
saw that most of the wingtai brands are having 40% off the second piece for this weekend! *wowwee*
brought a dress and a bodysuit from selfridge at ard $70+ nia.
good deal. heh.

went to pick up the elder son and my mum around late afternoon.

yz has a new haircut too! :)

my boy looks so grown up now!

brought them to tampines 1 for dinner.
we went bakerzin and guess what? mum ordered chicken curry with rice. LOL.

thought she can try some western-style food but this in the end.
damn full with soup + desserts thrown in as well.
my dieting plans are all haywired now. *gulp*

finally, im now home with the 2 kids sleeping.
time to entertain the husband. he has been very sweet!

Thursday, April 01, 2010

i love my little 包!

nowadays i really enjoy my home-alone time with yr.
finally, he is becoming very responsive and replaces his crying with his coos and smiles more frequently now.

but still abit unhappy with being on his tummy for too long

looking intently at his 偶像: me lah! hiaks.

i want to munch on his 包-like face!

baby, why are you smirking?

just when the good times are here to stay, its time to go back to work in a week time.
BAH!
