ratatouille, korean BBQ, sick (again!!)

the husband has made a mini windfall from his shares during the week. so irritating! while the one i'm holding on from his recommendation is really going nowhere but south. pui! lolz. whatever, i can only crossed my fingers and hope the dividends payout at year-end is gonna recuperate the paper loss. bleh.

still, he is sweet to organise an outing today for his parents and me. we are going to watch ratatouille & have a sumptious korean BBQ dinner!

hubbi & me before leaving the house

taking yet another shot in the car

we headed to The Cathay to meet my in-laws for the show. ratatouille is a really funny & heartwarming show though i may be harbouring too high a hope for it from all the rave reviews from papers to be overtly delighed by it.
still, i will recommend most people to catch it for its really a nice show with the right amount of heart.

hubbi has always wanted to bring us to tried some authentic korean BBQ but really finding one is not that simple. after doing some research online & asking around, we kinda narrowed down to 2. one in esplanade & one at east cost park.
despite me telling him the esplanade branch seems to enjoy a better food review & supposedly cheaper than the other one, the heatland him refuse to believe that.
pui. so in the end, he made a reservation at the east coast one and we arrived there promptly at ard 7 after the movie.

the decor is surprisingly bare & look like some normal family restaurant. stil, we were kinda comforted by the healthy crowd.
we ordered a mixed variety of meat, namely beef, chicken & pork. oh, and of cos the standard ginseng chicken soup.
when the food comes, i was decidedly excited. korean cuisine fanfare is such that the side dishes are ALOT. so much so that you got excited at trying out so many different type of food even though you'll realise soon that they are either just sour or spicy. lolz.

our many many side dishes

the good thing (at least to me) is the staff will cook for you. i cant stand cooking myself for i always managed to over-cook the meat, making it tough.

some of the meat is really nice, like the seasoned beef/pork. & i find the ginseng chicken meat really tender but the ginseng taste can be stronger. after all, i tried the real thing back at seoul with my mum.

when the bill comes, i really feel that the whole thing is OVERPRICED. true, the food is nice, but really not fantastic & we were actually paying ard $40+ per pax. if only we went to try out the other restaurant at esplanade. im sure even if the price comes up to ard the same or more, we'll be happier for the decor & ambience will surely be nicer than here?

anyway, by evening, im coming down with the sniffles & getting uncomfortable. so sianz. its been a good 3 1/2 months since i last got sick.

see, my nose getting red from me blowing my nose & eyes being bloodshot. not a pretty sight. bah!

but greedy me still suggested going to ben & jerry @ dempsey hill for desserts. so off we go! and we saw james lye, diana ser, ix shen & lee zhiqin there. lolz. not that it matters, really.

now finally back at home and with a worse than ever cold. *sob*
hopefully will recover by tomorrow. i hate being sick!!
