Perth Part 4 - Swan Valley I (Caversham Wildlife Park)

we stayed 2 days and 1 night @ swan valley.
after checking out of our hotel in perth city, we headed straight to hertz car rental to get our car.
we got an 1.8litre holden sedan which came as a surprise as we ordered for a compact hatch-back online that seems like a toyota.
well, for the same price, this seems like a good free upgrade. :)

yz was very happy!

swan valley is just a short 25 mins drive from perth city.
and as we can only checked into our hotel from 2pm onwards, we made our way to cavernsham wildlife park first!
this is one of the highlights for yz apart from playing his heart out at all the playgrouds @ kings park/fremantle.
he has been telling my mum and others how he will see the kangeroo, koala bear, farm animals etc in perth for the longest time before this trip. hehe.

we had breakfast there.
though the presentation is nothing much to desire for, the pancakes were surprisingly very tasty.
they were fluffy and sweet on their own! :)

in it, yz got to see the usual suspects for australia animals - namely the kangaroo, wallaby, koala bear etc
there is a farm within cavernsham park too and a performance showing how sheeps are herded by farm dogs, how they are being sheared, how cows are milked etc.
a good educational show for the boy!

we stayed here till mid noon then we drove to check into our stay for the night.
accomodation is with a family next to a cuddly pet farm!
and they have kangeroos, dogs etc in their compound!
how interesting. :)
after unpacking abit and letting the son napped, we moved out again to explore the area.
we dropped by margaret river chocolate factory and i had fun shopping for chocolates! *yumyum*

chocolates galore!
and the reality sets in. we are after all in swan river on a weekday.
this means that most shops closed by 6pm!!!
including most eateries. @_@
desperate for dinner, we drove a long way to Midland which is supposed to be one of the main downtown area for swan valley.
and then we were welcomed by....nothing.

can you spot the lonely 背影 of the husband carrying the son walking dejectedly back to our rented car?
after much difficulty, we manged to get dinner from an eatery outlet.
given all the driving and looking at how desolate the eatery was, we decided to tabao back to our homestay for dinner.
as mentioned, we were staying put with a family who has vacated their whole 1st floor for guests (us!).
and so, we have the whole living room other than the bedroom to ourselves!
and they have a modest selection of DVDs to keep us occupied too!
so dinner was spent watching shrek 1 with the son. LOL.

this is the living area

by now, you should have guessed that the day started early for us at 7am and ended early for us too.
we were normally in bed by 10pm latest. wahaha.
